With Kruze I think it's a hard call, but I still think that he really needs to be given a run at CHF, so he can learn to play the position and we can learn to play with him in the position. I see Setants providing backup for Hammer until 206 gets back.

Regarding JR I am a Huge fan, but for some reason JR doesn't seem to realise himself how good he can be, and I worry that playing him in the form he is in at the moment can only be damaging. So I think that he needs a run in the 2's, put him on the ball, let him rack up the touches and regain some form and confidence .... then straight back in.

Do you think the coaching staff need to show more confidence is young Russ?????

Oh and for what its worth Army will be the 3rd name dropped i reckon.
Probably Bannister in..

I dont agree with it though...

I'd have to say that I don't want Army dropped. He gives it a go. It wasn't entirely his fault he had nothing to kick to last week.

I would be happy seeing Bannister in though for Russell.

And Bagger, i know what you mean re Judd. He is getting mauled out there (still gets the handball away) now he's not getting the blocks he was at the Weagles. I'd like to see someone else extracting the ball at least sometimes so we can see more of Judd on the burst.

Does show his class though.. the way he is still quality even though he has changed to more of an inside mid.

Hi Koro, That's exactly my point re Juddy. We simply don't have the bodies in the middle to provide him the protection he needs, and in close he is constantly being held and scragged. We need to find someone else (Joeseph) to do the inside mid role and allow Juddy to move back outside and provide us the drive we need.

Deadset. A few shirtfronts would do it nicely. Something like Hunter's hit on Lloyd a few years ago would go nicely.

Nothing like a bit biff at the footy.
A few of them and whoever is tagging Judd will be off the boil.

I do, I'm no pschologist, and sorry to rant but to me JR shows all of the signs of low self esteem.

he drops his head and seems to blame himself for things that arn't really his fault ... his turn overs seem to run in streaks as he gets more and more down on himself.

Some of us need support and nurturing, to get the best of ourselves and are simply not made to be thrown in the deep end, and look how we use JR!!

Mobile Utility - I think the hardest role in modern footy.

Play tall when we need, play small when we need.

Play back, mid, forward as we need.

Learn 3 different game plans, 10 different roles and btw be good at them all!!!

Some players can do it ... Jarrad ... but even players like Kouta struggled with that role

I think that from a man management point of view, Ratts mis-manages JR almost as badly as dennis did (although differently). I would like to see the coaching staff work to re-inforce his self esteem (without making it seem like massive expectation), and let him succeed in a given role so that he can come to understand himself, his value to the team.

Hmm sorry Mods ... I suppose this should be in the JR tread instead .... can I plead newbie??

ROFL ... and we could use that tactic in the forward line as well.

you know like playing marks up at school ...... wait until that kid noone likes worked his way to the front of the pack

then hang one in the air just over him with 14 rabid classmates screaming up his back!!!

So the next time someone drops back into the hole in front of fev ..... lets hang one up there and scream MARKS UP!!!

that'll learn em!!

Welease Wussell!!
I've been meaning to head over to Lygon st for awhile now
This talk about Hartlett is a worry though...I think he's just as groan worthy as aforementioned little terrier.
It irks when politicians accuse the opposition of being uninformed when they don't agree with the point of view of the speaker.
Ditto when people are passed off as ignorant for having a different opinion.
Nuff said.
In: Hoops Pleassseee!!
......Grigg if he's up to it,and Cloke....Edwards was good in pre season wasn't he?
Also..Wiggins was great when he was leaping in 1st few rounds...maybe he's a bit sore??
Go Blues!
Go Ratts!...We'll get there.

My bids (enthusiasm-based rather than stats., etc.) are for the Chief &/or Setanta to take out Judd's opponent & provoke Kerr in the match.
Go Blues!

Makes me laugh to think of the hysteria that'll go on come tomorrow night if they actually DO drop Russell ... they'll be needing to close Lygon Street!!

Personally, I'll fall off my keyboard.

Each week Russ is the first name called....

Its just noone understands anything about the game and therefore the little minds cant fathom his worth.

I understand his role Synners and I certainly do not dispute his worth to an extent, but he is a wingman, a guy who can be around stoppages and provide something. He's a defensive player, but he's not a defender.

If we're playing him in defence, we shouldn't be playing him. Bring in Anderson for that.

With who?

John Worsfold, The Eagles coach?

I mean , that is who we are playing this week after all, and this is the Pre Match Discussion Thread

right ?

With the media. At his next press conference he needs to come out firing shots. The first journo to mention Fev name he should say................

"every bloody time this team goes down the finger is pointed directly at Fev. Honestly, we are sick to death when this team has a loss that everyones quick to single out an individual, we at Carlton are not individuals. You people must be blind, there are 22 navy blue jumpers out there and as a collective we including myself take full responsibility for the result each and every time, not one bloody individual. As a club we are over it".

I just drove up to Bundaberg for work and after a day at the wheel listening to a talking book read by a fellow who did a poor female voice, and avoiding collisions with white vans that did a poor version of driving, I was tired and hungry.

Why did I go to Chinese restaurant the size of a hangar that was completely empty and think I was going to get a good meal? A wizened old lady of obvious oriental distraction took my order, (or she may have been so old and so wrinkly that her oriental appearance was a byproduct of age...she could have been John Worsfold).

I paid too much money for a completely shit 'Aussie' Chinese. Of a meat, seafood or veggie option I went with chicken Sichuan style but it was basically lumps of chicken fat in a spinless stock with a few hard carrots.

Idiotically I ate the whole lot.

What I'm saying is- Carlton are the idiot who will unspectacularly consume Sichuan style Eagle.

Sometimes i miss how when we were on the bottom of the ladder, we had no pressure or expectations to perform greatly and less media scrutiny (except for our first wooden spoon season).
