Good luck Waitey. Not good to lose your second best player for a week let alone for the rest of the year.

We can still make the finals!!!!

This is terrible news to one of our top 3 players. Lets hope strength will come out of adversity for the Carlton Football Club.

Just like the bad injury to David Hille at Essendon* allowed Ryder to step up and sparked a rivial at this club, I hope the same will happen at The Blues.

We need some urgent injection of passion, team spirit and desperation to win.

Go Blues!

Unlikely! The scum had Ryder just ready to blossom and the ruck was the spot for him to do it. We don't have anyone similar with that much upside

The sad thing of all this is the age at which its happened for Jarrad. Right in his prime and I just hope that he doesn't lose his athleticism like Kouta did following his reco. I just worry about the reco occuring at his age and considering the time out and the time required to FULLY recover from such an injury we may have already seen the best of Waite

Thats what i was thinking about myself

No doubt Kouta would have contacted him, offered some words of support, give him a realistic look about it too.

I think when Kouta did his knee and the subsequent recos that followed, this field of medicine and recovery has increased significantly.

It's not the 12 months it used to be.

So I'm hoping that Waitey will be ready by for pre-season 2010.

We still have to feel positive and hope that after the reco he performs just as well as Daniel Bradshaw did after his reco and I believe he did his knee when he was 27 or 28 years of age.

What % of AFL players who have had the full reco have come back and not had it 'go' again?

Seems these days to be a very successful operation, am I right in saying that?

Waitey is in the high category of it happening it to. The way he jumps, is one of those lanky types who throws his legs around. Maybe he may have to adjust the way he plays i'd say. Maybe a permanent forward

I'll admit that Kouta suffered further bad luck when he returned from his knee reco (probably prematurely as he was poor in his 3 games in 2002). IIRC, he suffered further damage to his reconstructed knee during his 3rd game back - I think his medial. Look Kouta was great on his return but never the same player obviously and that was due to his reco.

The worry for me is that Jarrad and Kouta share some of these same attributes, albeit Kouta was a much better player, especially around the ball.
And this might be the result for Jarrad. If it is, then it really saddens me because he's a favourite and we wont see him again as the player we've enjoyed up to now

Ohh @#$%&!...

Good luck Waitey, hope it all goes well.

Not that it was the reason, but it gives me another excuse to hate Footy Pk.

See you back in action Round 1, 2010....

IF Waite's injury changes anything about where he plays he will end up being a permanent backman IMHO. As a forward your required to wheel around onto your prefered foot more often, as opposed to running straight out of the backline.

Good luck with the rehab Jarrad.

Will be interesting to see how Burton from the Crows plays. Similar in the way they can leap and spring. Will be watching with interest.

What are the chances JW makes a successful comeback?

Recent players I can think of are...

Hayes - success
Goddard - success
McIntosh - success
Malceski - success (diff approach too)
Bradshaw - success

Muston - 3 recos??

not sure if he had a full reconstruction but didak came back and played really well.

nathan thompson didn't look too good again but was never near waite's category anyway.

coughlan has had hamstring troubles since.

giansiracusa i think let it heal naturally and has been playing well since.

Hopefully Jared can come back and take off from where he was at. GUN

This happened right in front of me on Saturday, nearly cried when I saw it happen and him just lying there. He was one player who could have fired us up, he always gives 100%, so I have no doubt that if anyone can come back from this it will be him.

Just bad luck, extremely surprised it didn't go completely.

This is an opportunity to see how Austin goes for the next 13 rounds at least. Same for Setanta. Unfortunately Setanta has no friends at MC level so will make it a bit hard but i'm definitely excited by Austin.

He's been eased into it for 2 and a bit years, i reckon he's ready.

The thing i'm spewing about Waite is that Ratts and co. were finally starting to open their eyes to his potential up forward instead of being cornered as a rebounding backman.
