Waite's knee (the one he's damaged) was strapped up for the game.
Was that a sign that things were not right in the first place for him to play?
Could have been an MCL strapping. I can definitely say it's not directly related to a patella issue.

sounds like the wait and see approach has been taken
delay surgery see if it heals itself in time to come back in 8 or so weeks for an assault on the finals
if in that time it appears finals are gone - and the healing isnt up to scratch a full reco will take place and he should have enough time to make it back for the start of next year
It's already been noted that if they took that approach and it failed, he's looking at a big chunk of the 2010 season going with surgery.
I am astounded how you guys make assumptions and judgments about a players condition and the medicos assessments and decisions.
?
Assuming an ACL tear, he either gets a reco or he doesn't, and if he waits two months, then gets a reco, that's probably 12 months from now (at a minimum) he resumes. That's a third of next season gone. That's all I'm saying.
When I did my ACL i also tore my medial. I had my knee reco two weeks after the initial injury, then had to wait 6 weeks for the medial to repair properly before commencing recovery from the ACL operation, remembering the focus of recovery is to gain bend in your knee again. My doctor who diagnosed was Dr Bruce Reid and the surgeon was Dr Julian Fella. I was offered a chance for the ACL to come good, but the advice given to me was have the operation.
As i was an amatuer also, I didn't complete the rehab at the intensity Waite will, but I still came back in 10 months before I broke my tibia straight down the middle from the knee I just had the ACL operation on

I love telling this story, reminder not to ever ask me about my sporting career if I ever meet you.
