To all those predicting a Russell omition... are you typing this over and over again hoping that it is actually going to happen, cos we all know, it is not going to happen. Ratten loves him and there is no way is going to get dropped.

I'm not commenting on if its the right thing to do or not, there is a 117 page thread on that, I'm just asking why keep putting him as an out when we all know too well that it is not going happen, this season at least.

Fisher should not be selected. Once his undersized opponent was switched, he didn't kick a goal. That should provide insight enough that he is going to exposed again and again at AFL level.

Wiggins and Cloke should not even be mentioned. Wiggins should be dropped, Cloke should be disregarded. Would rather Setanta than both of these guys.

Can't say I am filled with any sort of confidence after seeing one of our main men out on Adelaide town happy as larry after we got pumped by 8 goals on the weekend.

Outs:
Wiggins - played uncharacteristically cheap footy; could be underdone
Russell - didn't mark his man for what seemed like 60-70% of the time, unacceptable in a defensive role
Waite
Hadley - was very effective with every touch but he is a big body that should be protecting Judd and amassing more possession outside the stoppages. He's doing neither.

Ins:
Fisher - I still loathe his output in anything other than an aerial contest, but it's time. If they feel Hartlett can be damaging at CHF setting up play, bring him in instead
Scotland - logical inclusion
Houlihan - has served his time and has had the message of defensive work rate reinforced by Teague
Grigg - fit, ready, raring - brings back some height with the outs.

Proposed line-up

FB: Joseph, Jamison, Bower
HB: Scotland, Austin, Browne
C: Houlihan, Gibbs, Grigg
HF: Robinson, Thornton, Simpson
FF: Fisher, Fevola, Betts
RR: Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy
Int: Hampson, Stevens, Yarran, Armfield

Very balanced line-up in my book. Too tall? Three runners on the bench. Too short at one end? Swing Thornton or Austin and bring Hampson on.

Concerns: Robinson & Yarran running out games, Houlihan & Fisher applying defensive pressure

Swap Anderson for Houlihan and I think that is very close.

I wouldn't pick Fisher personally but being at Werribee yesterday I have no doubt he will come in.

This game reminds me of the Collingwood game. A few changes, we will win because the opposition is ordinary and everyone will think things are fine.

Inclined to agree with you but I think it will come down to comparing Houlihan's scope for harassing and tackling versus Anderson's ability to set up play from half-back.

I'm not a betting man and thus pay very little attention to odds. How we can be so short priced is beyond me. I mean really...

We were heavily favoured last week too.

I have a punt and it's beyond me too...

$1.20 :screwy:

When we played Sydney the Swans were in at $2.40.
When we played Freo the Dockers in at $4.00
$2.30 for Adelaide...

Did back the Blues $1.60 against the Pies, and $2.20 when they opened up against the Doggies !!

Wish I had some $$$ on the Dockers game

The odds don't reflect who the bookies think will win, rather who the punters think will win.

That's what I keep hearing... so unless my eyes (and the eyes of my mates who are also Carlton supporters, as well as the eyes of the groupies hanging around) are decieving me, not all of them left Saturday night.

I read this forum a lot, post quite a little. I really have no need to make anything up, otherwise I would just do like I usually do and read, not post. You read a lot of stuff you take with a pinch of salt on forums such as these, and so u should, but when u see it with ur own two eyes it is something else.

These changes look OK to me.
I'm not a Setanta fan however he probably would match up OK on either Lynch or Kennedy.......it's the skillful and smarter forwards which he struggles with.

I personally wouldn't play Setanta or Fisher but that is just they I think the MC will go.

It's in confidential in the HS today. The team had a dinner at a local restaurant whose grand opening is 2-3 weeks away, Fev then went out to the local night club.

I'm confused.

The implication seems to be that once you lose a game of football you should retreat into a corner and self-flagellate in an effort to appease the supporters who clearly care more than you do.

We hear so much about professionalism these days. a professional footballer should be able to play a game, then win, lose or draw, set it aside and carry on with life, re-focussing on the next task at hand. Never wavering from the cause. After all, it's his job... But it's one we expect him to dedicate his every waking moment to.

And then we want them to be emotional too. We want them to have passion and desire and care as deeply as we do. All the while setting they eyes on the horizon and dedicating the best years of their life to Footy, to the Club and to us.

But it's not always going to be the case.

It can't be. They can't carry the joy of a win all week and into the next game. Just like they can't carry the sting of a loss. We expect them to roll up week-in, week-out as prepared as possible. Focussed. That emotional approach just wouldn't work. Yeah, we hear it all the time - 'they'll give them confidence' or 'they'll want to bounce back from that'... But really... it's no wonder they play up on occasion, they'd be emotional wrecks... each week manipulated by coaches and fans into a sort of fevered daze of competition and discipline.

Or perhaps they're not and they can go out after a big loss and hang out with their mates and not appear to be on the verge of tears - no matter how much you'd like them to be.

Am actually looking forward to the inclusion of fisher and to see his impact on our forward structure. Feel as if he is an integral part of our forward setup (particularly in the absence of waite). So long as he is marking strongly again (something he wasnt doing preseason due to coming back from injury) then he deserves his spot in the team.

'Integral part of our forward setup'...... YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! A slow and poorly skilled liability is what he is and nothing more.

Feel free to bookmark and come back at the end of the season
