Adelaide ruckmen resting forward must be respected - unlike last year. Porplyzia is a dead eye dick & their most dangerous forward. I like Armfield but he would be a terrible match up for Porplyzia who is a very strong mark for his height. Has to be a taller mobile defender like Bower or Thornton.
Adelaide has lost three in a row & all of their home games - therefore very dangerous opposition this week.
Bock out is a bonus. The stoppages will be crucial.

I would think Jamison would be a good match up for the porpoise. Can't afford to give him an inch and he's our closest checking defender.

When we lost the game late last year by 8 points we played some terrible patches of footy.

Ratts was reported saying in all the media that he missed the injured big boy (referring to Setanta) to play on the giants in the FP.

Warnock has added height to enable us to move around some really big mobile players, but he's been injured.

I would welcome Ratts picking Setanta to solely plug up that hole in the BP when it happens. But it depends if we retain the footy longer and how direct to goal we play. Oh yeah and kick straight.

Will be interesting to see how prepared we are on Adelaide's kickouts.

They like to have two players positioned on the 50m near the boundary. One of the players will hold off/block an opponent while the other takes an uncontested mark. This player will then handball/kick inboard to a player running hard into space.

And Moran. They'll both ruck, and rest up forward.

Austin, with Thornton third man up.

this is an impossible task. we have no hope at all. in fact I reckon the season is shot. may as well just play for draft picks. :yikes:

On that note, I'll be happy with NO CHANGE.

This bit in there gives a fair idea which way they'll go:

Go a bit taller? Tells me they're playing with the idea of playing the local boy Hartlett.

Bring Wiggins back into the team would also make us a bit taller. Bringing in Setanta to cover any height issues in defence would be going taller.

Keeping the run up would be retaining Browne, who played a good role on the weekend.

That Moran guy killed us last year.. he was a no body and probably still is, but he popped out of nowhere and destroyed us....he can ruck and push forward so whoever plays on him must be accountable...

the way we have been going this year, the opposition form is very irrelevant... Adelaide have played top teams at home and lost them all, and that will change on Saturday Unless we start showing some consistency :donk: :donk:

I am pretty tired of reading can't win, won't win comments on this thread. Against St. Kilda or Geelong I would pencil in a loss but would still be optimistic that we at least we are one team in the competition that could beat them on our day (I do not think many others could put pay to that idea).

So it really rattles my cage when I read rubbish about not being able to win against Adelaide ... yes it will be a great test, yes I think it will be close and yes Adelaide are wounded and dangerous and with McCloud's 313 will have plenty of inspiration to win.

BUT, for me at least its the perfect opportunity for the boys to show where they are. The win against Collingwood was against a VFL side so except for the win which was relatively ugly (first quarter not withstanding) now is the time to show the diehard fans wheather they are serious about September or not.

I think they are and as long as they give it 100% win or lose I will be satisfied.

The can't win out there ... go and drink your half empty glass of piss ... I will be drinking my half full glass of champagne when we win.

We have the team and skills to win ... if the intensity is there we will ... nuff said.
