Hold it.. hold it... hold it!!!

This thread is funny.

First... 4 years ago we had to ask the AFL for money.. we still havent paid it off.
Secondly... no way will there be 25,000 seats as it is.
Thirdly there are 41 ,000 members and rising.
Fourth its going to be a "clean ground" for the AFL to build it... according to Swan.

Basically meaning we dont control what happens there....matches wise..

Personally, i doubt it will happen and its been used as ammo against the MCG and Etihad....

How will we fit them into a 20,000 seat stadium with our share of corporates etc?

GC already have 40K members and are only building a 25K seat stadium. .

Prove it.

At Carlton vs Freo last Saturday night (on the Gold Coast), I was invited to attend the inaugural GC Coaches Club function in the business executive lounge and McKenna and a few other GC footy types were sitting on my table. These were the figures they were telling me. The support there is amazing.

Cararra will initally hold 25K with provisions to seat up to 50K later.

Off topic now, but GC will be successful.

I tried to sell to them that Cloke, Russell, Wiggins, Bannister are the best Carlton have on thier list and GC should target them.

Geelong has 35,000 members, yet they have no problems having a 25,000 seat stadium or whatever KP holds...

Visy Park should be adequate for games against interstate clubs no one cares about...

yeah but it belongs to them., they reap everything from it.

Thats one.

Two is... when this team fades a 25k stadium is about right for them...

Sounds like they are over-egging the pudding. I remember when Southport were trying to get the licence two years back and they were saying their footy club had over 20thousand members. Thing is, all those people were members of the southport sharks club - they weren't football members. I refuse to believe that an unformed side can have 40,000 members when 50km up the road the Lions (with a remnant Melbourne supporter base) struggle to break 20,000.

They may have 40,000 people who have said 'we may be interested in attending an AFL game at Carrara' but that does not translate into members.
