Pav if he was younger.

I'd trade Fevola for a 26 year old version of Daniel Bradshaw if we had the choice.

Bradshaw is the next best full forward after Fevola playing in the AFL if you want one with strength, power and skill.

Bradshaw knows how to play a team game as part of a twin towers set up.

Plays consistent footy without the highs and lows of a Fevola.

GC would be our only chance.

Everyone else wouldn't be willing to offload their first rounder for him.

It's GC or he's staying with us.

What he said....

It's always a tough call with Fev...matchwinner yes..but even given the amount of goals he still remains too one dimensional IMO.

Todays game demands players to be multi trick poneys...it's a game where you need to be able to have a number of skills and play different roles depending what you are up against.

If I had to swap him I'd swap him for a Mooney type player...

I thought this was a hypothetical rather than a discussion on a real possibility.

I'd take a direct swap for Pav, I think most people would but it 'aint' likely. The talks about Franklin and Roughead and the like are just pipe-dreams but they would be desirable out-comes.

People say that finding a Fev replacement and/or back-up in the draft would also be unlikely but we shouldn't take that to mean a return to the bad old days.

I've seen defeatist type logic turn into self-sabotage in the past.

We shouldn't have to trade an arm and a leg for a fev replacement.
Hughes should be able to pick one, and has had the opportunities for doing so.
If he can't manage to pick a replacement in 5 years of drafting, then he shouldn't be in the job.
It's up to our recruiters to get us a forward to replace Fev.

No, it's a case of opposition clubs trying to see what value they can get out of him to begin with, which at this stage isn't a whole lot (unless we throw some steak knives in). At the trade table, to paraphrase George Costanza, we have no hand.

Fev for Pav?? Surely you jest!

I don't think you're going to be in a ladder position to draft a Fev replacement, I think they're probably only available in the top 5 picks. No other club is going to trade or let go a young gun key forward,

I agree with all of that.
The draft won't help us but free agency will.
It will be in place in some shape or form within two years. Free agency will flush out more players who want to leave a state for their home state or leave a struggling club to enhance their chance of a flag. Just ask Greg Wells.

Bananas.
If your recruiters are good you don't need a top 5 pick to draft them.
What pick was Taylor Walker?

What pick was John Anthony?

What pick was Matt Bate?

And in relation to this thread, what pick was Fev when we got him?

Top 5 pick rubbish. We will always qualify fora first round pick, each year, every year. Over 5 years we should be able to snap up ONE key forward prospect without having to use a top 5 pick to get it.

Fev needs to pull the baby dummy from out of his backside ... wheather he is able to do that due to it being so firmly lodged up there is another question.

I love him, but I think we have a Tony Lockett situation here, rely too much on him and that will never change until he is gone. Look at both St. Kilda and Sydney ... both made GFs after the trade!

Trade him to GC for whatever we can get ... by then the Krueze should be a missle IMO.
