Hypothetically if we were able to trade for 1 for 1 with any other forward in the league who do you think would best suit us with the list we have at the moment.

Lot to consider J.Brown, Nick Riewoldt, Buddy, Pav etc etc

But for mine I think I would take Roughead ahead of all of them. I think he would straighten us right up and unlike Fev is a fierce competitor every time he crosses the white line.

I'd prefer Roughead alongside Fev personally, but he'd be my pick as well.

Wouldn't be too sure about that...but Roughead as per Benji's posting of straightening us up.

If we were to offer the Hawks Fev and Thorton for roughie and maybe a pick or a Boyle i'd say they would seriously look at it.

Nup - i'm a Fevola fan.

You take the good with the bad with Fev, cause he's just that type of player.

Somebody on here before likend him to Warrick Capper?

WTF? :screwy:

Fevola could well TRIPLE Cappers goal tally by the time he's finished his career and will most likely become our greatest ever goal kicker in front of Sticks.

For all his stupidity, he is a match winner and a champion. Capper, at best, was a flashy, selfish and didn't give a stuff which team he played for.

Sure, he had a bad game the other night, but he wasn't the worst player on the ground. And i can't say that i blame him for chucking a hissy fit every now and then with our delivery to him.
- at his feet
- over his head
- sometimes when he's got 3 defenders on him.

If we had traded him to Richmond all those years ago, we probably would have got a dud. Let's face it. You just don't trade your star players.

It'd make me sick to see him in anything else but Navy Blue.

Buddy Franklin, and you'd be a fool to say anyone else. Roughead had a day out against us but don't forget that we had our two best defenders sitting on Franklin the entire match while Roughead only had Thornton to throw around.

Trading a very good young player for someone nearing their 30s when they just won a premiership earlier than expected? I don't think the Hawks would be that generous unfortunately.

we would need more than fev and thornton to pry roughhead from the hawks let alone them giving us something else as well

..exactly, on top of that i reckon roughie will be better than fev anyways.. ..fev took a while for the penny to drop, and lets not think of the dark days..

hawks wouldnt trade roughhead - they'd probably let franklin go before roughead.

On Fev - best replacement would be via a draft+player trade

The Hawks will never ever ever look at that. Why would you mess with the chemistry of Buddy and Roughy and have 2 prima donnas up forward, one of which is 29 and a bad influence, plus a handy, but static flanker?

Whatever happened to Greg Swann saying that Fev was on his last chance? Remember that? I'd almost forgotten. I'm not talking about on-field sulking either. All the radio stations are talking about it - will be in the paper tomorrow. Big test for Swann, Ratts etc.

Either way, we wouldn't get value for Fev. If Gold Coast were coming in next year instead of 2011, I'd say Fev might be on the move.

If we could get say, pick 6 and pick 18 (highly unlikely) I'd take the medicine and rebuild our forward line on solid foundations. Pick 6, 9, 18, 25 (for example) given a decent draft would get 3 marking forwards and one speedster.

Of course we'd struggle to kick goals for a bit, but basing your future on an unreliable superstar turning 29? What if he gets injured? How are we going to have a quality era when your only star forward is 7-8 years older than your core?

Fev would be suited to the Swans, but even they might be sick of importing old head-case power forwards.

Of course he'll kick 8 again and we'll all love him again...until next time :banghead:

As soon as we put Fev on close to 800 grand, the chance of trading him evaporated. Why would Hawthorn trade Roughead and a player - 500 grand of cap space, for Fev and Thornton - 1.1 mil of cap space.

Didn't realise the Swans had picked up Kevin Garnett.

Oh yeah, plus Fev goes Veteran's List in 2011. Few clubs can afford to swallow a contract where the player is getting twice what goes under the salary cap.

We're stuck with him. And he knows it. That's why whenever something goes wrong for him personally or professionally he can go off the rails with impunity. AWESOME!!! :banghead:

The club - weak as piss. When have they made a really hard decision on a player? Kennedy. And that was to bring the big star over, 80s style. Never bit the bullet on bad seeds or fading players if it meant taking a step back to take 3 steps forward.

Oh, and what about that behaviour clause? There ain't no behaviour clause!

 Yep we're in great hands

You'd think it was 1982 with Jimmy Buckley et al. Footy hasn't progressed past the semi-pro era - oh wait, it has, Carlton hasn't. Sweet.

Just as an aside - Fev has been partying pretty hard since Dick Pratt passed away. Is our club REALLY reformed - or was Pratt holding it together with the force of his character? I mean not just getting good staff and some cash, but the ethos - how professional is the attitude there?
