Apart from the two trendsetters of the competition in St Kilda and Geelong, there isn't much between 3rd and 3rd last at the moment. This reminds me of 1993 when there were basically 3 wins between 1st and 10th and teams picking up a bit of form as the season ended were seen to be dangerous even if in 8th place:

With this in mind smashing the crap teams and winning your fair share of the close ones is of utmost importance. Whilst I dont think we were ever a top 4 team but a top 8 team in 2009, converting some of these close losses to the occasional win has to happen for us to have a chance to make the finals.

Can't disagree with you. Our percentage at the moment is worth 4 points due to the closeness of 10 or so teams. Collingwood dropped 17% last night so besides winning some tight games, what will also help is not getting smashed in any games.
