Sunday 17th May, 2.10pm, MCG.

Well, we need more willing runners linking through the middle of the ground willing to have a crack.

I'd bring in Robbo, Garlett and Browne.

Simmo looks listless to me. Wiggo and Cloke are out of form along with one or 2 others.

Maybe give Harts another chance.

We just need to take the game on more through the corridor

We need to bring in players that are going to bleed for this flowering jumper. You see Rance yesterday? Except for the big three I can't see anyone showing that sort of commitment in this team.

Bring in Grigg, Robbo, Setanta. Send Wiggo, JR and Cloke to the ants. Houlihan should come back too, we need someone who can actually kick the ball. Stevo should count himself very lucky too btw and Thornton only stays because we need to shore up our back half. Austin showed last night that he can make it at this level, so give him a job down back and FFS keep Waite up forward.

It will be a good game. Both team play the same style of football. Slow ball movement and play along the wings

I reckon its time to get a more mobile side in. We are too lumbery. Our forward defensive pressure has been bad. Bring in a couple of hard tackling hard running players to replace Cloke , Wig and maybe Hadley.

Our back 6 should match up well against their forward line. Would have liked Grigg in but he will be underdone if his hammy is ok.

We are better than them so should win.

The port fans i know all blame Williams for getting them to play the same way. Seems it comes up when a team loses.

We looked slow and cumbersome and the skills were disgraceful. Out - Cloke, Hampson, Armfield, Hadley (stevens very, very lucky). In - Robinson, Fisher, Grigg, O'hailpin

Actually if we're going to be discussing Ins and Outs - then I reckon you'd be crazy to drop Hampson against Collingwood...and Grigg won't be ready for seniors next week guys.

Leave hampson and armfield and forget about Ohalphin and fisher. We need runners with dash.

Out :- cloke hadley and Wig (maybe)
In:- Robo, garlett and Houla (maybe)

If grigg is ready play him but i doubt he will be.

I am not looking at the names really. More the mix of the type of players i think we need. I reckon we are a bit heavy and lumbery at the moment.

I want those guys to come in and play up forward and lay 5 tackles each. Stem the flow of the ball coming out so we can get numbers behind the ball and set up. Should also be able to jag some goals from the pressure like round 1 and 2.

I just want to beat this mob.

Like Synbad says we have the players we just need to get the mix right and get the structures right.

Promoting Houlihan would send the wrong message to the playing group.

Get dropped and be promoted after coasting in the VFL.

We need some mongrel.

Robinson and Browne for Wiggins and another player I can't be bothered naming...

Our structure breaks down because we have no decent options besides Fevola.

This is a must win game.
To make the 8 we need to win 9 of our last 15 games, and with 4 games still be played interstate and St Kilda and Geelong to come we have to win every other Melbourne game. Look ahead to our next 5 games, Collingwood, Adelaide (away), WC, Brisbane (away) and St Kilda, there is every possibility we may only win one of these and be sitting at 4-8.
Collingwood will be hell bent on revenge for last years 2 losses to us and I only hope they have a really tough match Monday night.
Changes are needed- Cloke out for Fisher (at least he has a crack). Robinson to come in for Wiggins, and Grigg if he is fit.

Hopefully we can take advantage of having 2 extra days to prepare than what Collingwood will have. God knows we need them!

Cloke has to go. Irish back in for him. Hammer needs more game time...should be able to break even with Fraser/Bryan in the ruck. Krooz to do more of the leading up from half forward.
I'd drop Stevens to send the message loud and clear to the group. Give Browney a go...I think he is one who lifts his game at the higher level.

We match up well and rise to the occasion against the Pies. I think we will be 4-4 next weekend and then have to sort out our travelling routine to win at AAMI.

If Bannister is fit and not suspended by the VFL tribunal, I'd pick him and tell him his role is to block for Judd and Murphy at every clearance and smash their opponants every chance he gets.

I'd also instruct Stevens, Scotland, Gibbs and Simpson that any time he has the ball they're to be running past for the handball receive so we don't need to worry about his kicking, thats not what he's in the team for.

If Bannister isn't fit or is suspended I'd move down the queue to the next player capable of blocking and hurting the opposition and at the end of the season I'd trade for a couple of players that are capable of that and have decent disposal.

We have to start looking after Murph and Judd.

Out: Stevens, Fevola, Cloke, Wiggins, Thornton
In: Robinson, Garlett, Browne, Anderson, Bannister

Line up:

CARLTON
B: Steven Browne, Paul Bower, Michael Jamison
HB: Joe Anderson, Mark Austin, Bryce Gibbs
C: Chris Judd, Richard Hadley, Dennis Armfield
HF: Chris Yarran, Jarrad Waite, Mitch Robinson
F: Jeff Garlett, Matthew Kreuzer, Eddie Betts
Foll: Shaun Hampson, Marc Murphy, Aaron Joseph
Int: Jordan Russell Heath Scotland Jordan Bannister Kade Simpson
Emerg: Shaun Grigg Adam Hartlett Greg Bentley

A side for the 'future' with some genuine speed around the flanks, run and enthusiasm and less of the dead wood.

PS Won't happen but I'd like to see it!

I like this kind of thinking. A little bit of tactical initiative and playing to our strengths. At the moment, other clubs must be laughing at how easily we allow our strengths to be minimised and our weaknesses exploited.
