Read the amazing praise for Jack Silvagni.

By the time he debuts for the Blues, Judd will be about 32, Gibbs 26, and Murphy 27

Shit, they ALL sound great. Recruit the lot of 'em, and we'll be unstoppable.

edit - and check out some of the names in their U12 team this season:

Alessi
Wright
O'Donnell
Silvagni
Collins

It reads like a breeding ground for Father-Sons down there.

Last year's news...still tearing it up this year...although I am reliably informed it's very difficult to keep your eyes on the game
...Don't assume all are "father-sons" ...there are some common names there.

I like the assitant coach for the U11s ...apparently for another "ethnic boy" can play a bit, tackers coach is similiar

Doesn't Alessi make modern kitchen utensils?

Ah yes, Alessi = attractive juicers that no-one actually uses. Alessio = mildly talented ruckman/forward.

Too early to tell...will be able to tell more at u-15's. Did some assistant coaching during the week for a schoolboy side which featured a few ex-Essendon Premiership players' boys and a Carlton 300 gamer...no recruits in this lot - can already tell.

Good luck to Jack but let's not expect too much yet.
He's playing in 2nd division YJFL which is a reasonable standard but he's not an absolute standout ATM.
Lets hope he can enjoy his footy before it gets to the serious stage. Too many kids are getting burnt out by being dragged into rep squads and training 4 nights a week. Footy soon becomes a chore for a lot of them.

There are several kids getting around in the YJFL who are already elite for their age. Donald McDonalds boy is as good as their been for a while and Peter Moores son goes ok.
There are several sons of ex Carlton players getting around as well.

It is last years news but still positive for the future.

BV whilst you mention its only 2nd D etc etc remember that these kids are monitored and nurtured from from a young age. Im not in Melbourne but I do know the the Neil Daniher is involved in the general region or maybe at the same club with his kids and he is a very astute coach to listen to if you ever get the chance - leaves Rocket for dead - not egotistical at all and happy to impart his knowledge so hopeully he is around the region. Anyway back to my point - in my day Assumption College Kilmore was a gun team yet at Marcellin we had a young SOS who was learning the art of a forward under Peter Mckenna - I doubt Carlton were too worried about results of the team he played for but more so the development Steven showed.

I hope that Steven learnt his lesson from his father and ensures the boys (unless the pricks change the rules again) realise that there is only one option open to them if the realise whats good for them.

Sossies - Sons of SOS sss

Neale Daniher is in Perth now Mark.
Yes, he is good to listen to. He was a keynote speaker at the National Coaches conference in Brisbane in 2008 and spoke very well. I've also listened to Rodney Eade but didn't find him egotistical at all. Chris Bond was a bigger head than Rocket IMO.
Daniher coached in the YJFL at Kew Rovers in 2008. There are several other ex AFL players coaching in the YJFL which is good value for the kids involved. (Gary Lyon, Ricky Nixon, among others)

The point I was making is...lets not put pressure on Jack. Yes, he won his B&F but it needs to be kept in perspective. I have a minor involvement with the YJFL and while second division is a reasonable standard of footy, it's quite a bit off the elite standard. Jack did well to finish runner up in the league B&F but it's early days yet.
Hopefully he can enjoy his footy for a few years yet before we as supporters put too much pressure on him.

If he DID make it - would it be the first Grandfather-Father-Son combo to play for the same club?

Anyone know?

The only thing I know ... which is not much ...is tht at Jack´s age I was a complete unco on my left side ... the fact he is quality on both sides at such a young age is impressive to say the least
