I like the 22 the MC has picked for this round, I also like some of the names that are waiting in the wings.

Hoops
Walker
Grigg
Warnock
Robbo
Fish
Browne
Anderson

Good players are going to miss some weeks, we have to get used to that. I think the team selected is as close to our best 22 as we have been all year. We can get better though and it will be exciting when some of the above players squeeze their way into the 22.

I like the team, we should win and win well. Go Blues!

Go post Dale!

I reckon its close to our best 22 all year and certainly gives a pointer to the future.

Don't forget guys like Garlett, Bannister, Ellard, O'Keefe, Hartlett (as a defender), Jacobs, Pfieffer who are all still very much in the mix.

Agree. It is a team with an eye for the future.

..re: Hoops - i agree it wasn't his best game for the year, but it was still better than some other players, which aren't up/down due to youth, but due to ability/talent/skill (or lack thereof)..

Hard to see us losing this game...as long as we are switched on they cannot match us.

A good start would be just whats required as Freo would thrive on a bit of confidence, so give them nothing...put them away early..and then Kruze....

We have so many players capable of slotting into the 22 each week I cannot even remember them all. :donk:

I think the Hawks looked flat (mind you plenty are underdone) they spent all there tickets last week.

I had a few on the Bombers tonight. I have the Pav as my dream team captain.

I think we may come up a little flat tomorrow night to

Don't think this result will have any bearing on our game tomorrow night...except that we will come out even more determined to make up for losing to them last week.

Hopefully the extra days rest will prevent us from being flat.
The Dockers might be on a downer after the Western Derby last week.

Lloyd's influential game refutes the nonsense uttered about his day out against us being an aberration that couldn't be foreseen. Anyone who thinks you don't need to put time in to negating a prolific goalkicker is kidding himself.

hawks kick 6 straight in the first last week
This week they kick 1 8 if that was 8 1 it would have been game over
Cannot under estimate the importance of kicking straight
Fev missed 4 shots from inside 35 and none on an angle
Every game we have lost we have out played the opposition
It is our conversion rate that is beating us

"flat" and "underdone" are just excuses. They had no Hille and no Fletcher and they won. Like I said in previous threads, we did not seize our opportunity last week, our MC ballsed up and I for one was not going to engage in the chorus of, "wow, I'm so proud of the boys, what a wonderful honorable loss". We were more than good enough to win, we didn't, that's fine, but dont regale the realists with primary school elephant stamps and gold star encouragement. The big boys are doing their VCE where quantitative measures only determine success.
PS Melvey, this response is actually not directed at you. I don't always agree with you but I can appreciate your perspective most times.

There will be more pain and home truths between now and our next premiership no matter how you dress it up.

We want to win each game and we want to keep developing at the same time, both are not always mutually inclusive. There is a cause-and-effect for everything although it would have been nice to have won against Hawthorn and the scum.

I don't think it was an honourable loss but I would rather lose that one which gives us a bit of foresight than lose a bit further on in the process and come to realise that our planning was all for naught. There comes a time where backtracking becomes either dangerous or impossible.

Massive difference in the intensity levels Hawthorn had last week to tonights game. Hawks were flat, just like the week after the Geelong game. Goes to show with a lack of pre-season, you can get up for the big games but you'll suffer in your recovery.

It will be interesting to see how we come up.

So we win if Fev kicks 10 yeah???? :screwy:

We should win by 40 points the games Fev kicks ten.... not by a goal...

They were smashed by a very young Essendon* team.. that just attacked them...

Knights showed how its done..

I agree totally agree Synbad.

Im a fairly patient however after watching the bombers tonight I'm pissed off. I know that both sides are fairly even however we should be at least a five goal better side.

We were so close last week however we lost. It was evident during the game that Hawthorn are very good at zoning and watching Carlton trying to clear the ball out after they scored a behind was embarrasing. We held on the ball and tried to use clear possesion to clear the ball from defence.

The Bombers showed us tonight how to beat the bigger/stronger boddies, run, run and flowering run and take them on. I kept on saying to my mate last week during the game that the Hawks were not playing well and the only way for us to win was to take them on ala Armfield at the end. We fell in to their game plan. Instead of bringing in pace against the Hawks we bring in a bigger body but slow player in Bentley to match them instead of bringing in a player to beat them.

We lost to the Bombers and game we should not have lost. We lost to Sydney playing the same way, they clogged us up, we didn't take them on. The Bombers have modelled their game against the best in Geelong and that is to run and break the lines and in effect beat the zone which most clubs play.

I do believe we are coming (after all we are in the top 8) however we still have a bit of work to do between the ears because our list is BETER than the bombers however they are playing smarter football and using their strengths rather than trying to match it with other teams.

It looks like the bombers have targeted players in the draft that can get their own football and I look forward to watching Yarran tomorrow.
