I agree. They will be helping the kiddies at the Royal Children's hospital if they go?
So if you do go, "give so that they can grow".

'Religion' might suffice and I understand that - I'm not one for imposing religion on someone against their will. 'Rituals' make it sound like you're half expecting to see gaunt, albino members of the Opus Dei Melbourne community whip themselves silly for half-time entertainment.

When the VFL started with Sunday football there were massive issues at the time, people threatening this and that and basically saying it would destroy the fabric of society.

Sunday football happened and everything is fine.

I hope Good Friday football will happen. Maybe the next AFL chief will be the one to do it. The Spew will not by the look of it.

Just on the Hawthorn idea.

It would be fantastic, they played a younger side than we did last weekend, both teams are going to be powerhouses for at least the next several years.

Sunday trading was also going to ruin us.

Please try and steer clear of religious discussion and be mindful of offending others.

Posts will be removed if we receive complaints.

Hard to steer clear of religious discussions when the Good Friday Holiday is a religious holiday.

I think you will find that this idea will not get up because for the next 2 easters (2010 and 2011) the Orthodox Easter and the Catholic/Protestant Easters are on the same date - Demetrispew wont let it through. The hypocrite will do his stavro and go want to go to church for communion for the one day of the year that he goes - although he does have to stay clear of the holy water, it burns.

Assume someone has already mentioned that it's gonna be on a Friday.

The best move, IMO, would be to trial a Good Friday match, and let people vote with their feet. If they don't like it, then it will show.

Can't get a better yardstick than that.

Yet you lead the chorus decrying Demetriou's chant of "Crowds are up, ratings are up".

Yep, sounds good but the crowds will never be big.... Lots of people go away for the 4 days that weekend.

Presumably, the people who are away on the Friday will also be away on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday too. Unless crowd figures for the easter holiday weekend substantially lower than every other weekend of the year, I don't see how this line of argument is relevant.

No, I decry his chorus of that because he uses it to hide other far more glaring general problems which he deliberately avoids rectifying.

Let the people decide.

If Good Friday footy goes ahead and a crowd of 80k at the 'g' isn't drawn I'll go to church with both Chucky and DUC and bung a pineapple in the plate afterwards.

I'd say my pineapple's pretty safe.

well, they play the last post for ANZAC day games.

I won't whinge about a Good Friday late afternoon or evening game as long as they say the lord's prayer!!!

The MCG should plan for a 3 hour black out at some stage....
