Sticks was interviewed on both 3AW and TripleM yesterday before the game and spoke well about Dick and Jeannie's involvement with our club.

I was a little skeptical about the great man leading our club but i have to say after hearing both interviews i have no doubt he will do a great job leading this club.

He talks about how he doesn't wanna be a headline chasing president and that the club doesn't need it. He wants to deliver on the legacy Dick has left and will stay on for as long as the Pratt family is involved with the club.

I was so glad to hear Sticks talk about the current membership slogan and say that they made a mistake leaving it to the marketing department and have learnt from this.

For those who missed it here is a link to the interview............ its about 3 quarters way down of the scroll thingy

imho, 09's slogan has been the best one in YEARS. Certainly positive and generates discussion whilst also instilling a bit of pride/arrogance back into the club.

Talk the talk, now walk the walk.

Compare that to the - 'something blue' campaign a few years back which was like WTF type of message is that supposed to send to supporters?

What i like about the 'They know we're coming' campaign, is that we have to have the self belief to even contemplate such a slogan. Shows that the whole club is in the right frame of mind.

Am I experiencing deja vu, I'm sure I've heard this debate somewhere before?

if everyone stayed on topic there would be no need for constant editing

except everyone attacks each other and goes off topic

and then its edited to make the thread readable

and then everyone ruins the thread further by taking the piss

then theres the whinging about the poor quality of the main board

you cant have it both ways !!!

ps:

I think sticks is a decent president from a figurehead perspective but thankfully swann is on board to do a lot of the running of the club

it concerns me however if what he says about the slogan and regretting leaving it solely to the marketing dept. is true

if thats the case why werent checks put in place along the way before it became official?

Just to think that a skinny kid from Glenelg would go on and become a 2 x Premiership player, longest serving captain, kick 738 goals become a club legend as a player and then kick on to become the President !

Woohoo !! :smoking:

I think Sticks was saying that had they realised that the slogan would be parodied by other, lesser clubs, they may have revised it.

It's a brilliant slogan from a marketing perspective, accentuates the tribalism that is AFL football and delivers some trademark Carlton arrogance.

Sticks is a great figurehead for the club and I'm glad he's not going to be putting himself in the media constantly like presidents of other, lesser clubs. He's got a good team around him as well.

I think the important thing is the team around him. Sticks isn't going to be relied on to make any crucial decisions, he can get on with doing what he's good for.

I think the interesting part from the interview, which no-one seems to have picked up on, is when Sticks said that he'd be happy to be President "as long as the Pratt family is involved with Carlton".

But I guess that's a discussion best left for another time.

Let the free market reign, it will sort itself out. Apparently.

I reckon we're in pretty good hands . ( thanks again to Dick ) .

The main task ahead for Sticks , is to keep the management team together .

With a premiership in sight i have no doubt everyone will stick together to be part of a premiership winning team and club and continue on what Pratt started.

GO THE BLUES!
