i'll never forget the morning of friday feb 9th 2007.

my alarm goes off to the story that richard pratt "has answered the call to lead the blues!"
i jumped out of bed clicking my heels with a sense that the past was just that....and we were going to be ok.

you've brought so much joy....
and i will forever be thankful.

you will be missed.

Thank you for everything Mr Pratt. My only dissapointment is that you may not be around to savour our next flag.

Very sad. I met Dick on two occasions, gracious and generous in spirit. Dick, thoughts & prayers are with you.

Just like many people here, i wish Dick all the best in his fight with this horrible disease.

His continual love and passion for the Carlton Football Club near on half a century has been nothing short of marvelous. But its the impact he made in 2007 that i think every Carltonian will be thankful for. Without Dick, his influence and ability to bring some big names and key personnel to the club, i would shudder at the thought of what position we could of been in.

On a personal note, i have met Dick a few times throughout the years and he has been a pleasure to talk to on all occassions. A humble, friendly and generous individual who has given an amazing contribution to not only our club but to various other areas as well.

Keep fighting Dick and hopefully our boys can give you a smile on Sunday

I almost met Mr Pratt at a lucnheon but I got too embarrassed to come up to him and say thank you for all that he has done for the club.

I wish that I had now.

May whatever God has in store for you Mr Pratt, I pray that he grants you the best deal of your life.

Seeing Judd, Fev and Stevo at Raheen was nice - l hope they give the other players are rev up at what winning and playing with commitment and a common purpose will mean to Mr Pratt.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Kernahan said to Dick that they'd finish what they started, ie: win a Flag.

Emotional stuff.

Absolutely spot on.

(In fact GS is officially a "dead man walking". He had alienated the entire business community just by taking on the ACCC chairmanship....(remember, he was a middle man, not a player, surviving on friends and networks)...He's managed to wreck any relationship with both of these (friends and networks)

Really I can't add any more than others have other than to say Mr Pratt, you will be sorely missed and forever remembered!

Its been said elsewhere but that Friday in February 2007 was the day that marked Carlton Football Club as heading in an inexorable upward direction - and for that Richard Pratt we owe you a debt of gratitude - its up to Carlton Members, Supporters and Faithful everywhere to make sure Carlton never go back to the depths of misery that was 2002 to 2007.

Thanks Richard Pratt.

 :thanks: - but also

Since i heard the news the other day about dear old richard i couldnt help but remember when i was playing and our club president had passed away and like dick he was a great man to the club. i can remember standing out in the middle of the ground doing the minute silence and couldnt help but think at the same time that for our president i wanted to smash the opposition and so them just how loyal we are kinda makes me laugh now that i look back on it that we won by 180 points hahha bit of a smashing. i just hope that sunday the boys find this an inspiration not only to win the game for great old dick but hopefully lift and bring a preimership back to our beloved ground for him

I'm sorry if I am going a little off-topic here, but to be perfectly honest, I don't want the boys to have to use Richard Pratt's illness as motivation to win.

If we don't win on Sunday, then what? The guys didn't try hard enough? They didn't care? Remember how shattered everyone was for Jarrad Waite when we played Melbourne the week after Vin's death?

Sunday's match will be a hard match to win, but it is winnable.

If we were to win a match for everything Richard Pratt has done for Carlton, we'd have to go pretty much unbeaten through the season.

Have a look at Saintsational and see what those sick bastards are saying about Dick Pratt, inferring that it is all a ploy to get the charges dropped against him and he is not really that sick. They are calling him crook, although they are happy to have 2 of their own in the team.

There's your problem right there.

I'm not surprised that supporters from other clubs are being less than kind about another human being's suffering, being a football fan brings out the worst in some people.

They're even worse over at Nick's (the Collingwood fan site).

I hope that we never descend to that level.

link to a good read

If we don’t celebrate our achievers, we will all achieve less as a society. But more than that, if we’re not generous with each other, we’ll become that bleak place of desolation. That’s why he should get his gong back. And quickly. He’s earned it...
...Let him live in peace. And - when the time comes - die with the dignity he so richly deserves. If we don’t, we’ll all be poorer for it.
