I just wish we could do for him what he did for our footy club.

This great club will forever be in your debt, Richard Pratt.

And we will dedicate Premiership number 17 to you.

So sad to hear this news....Mr Pratt was one who really deserved to see our club rise to greatness again.

I know the end comes for all of us, but it never makes it any easier to deal with. Such a shame his last years were hard on him. I hope that the world remembers him for all the good he has done.

He has his own family to grieve for him, but I know that we all think of him as part of our family as well.

I know there are sponsor issues involved, but the club should either name PP (/ Visy Park) - "Richard Pratt Park" or at least call the new training facilities "The Richard Pratt Centre" and announce this while Pratt is still alive - we owe him this. I would also suggest a statue of RP at the entrance when its finished. I do not dare to think where we would be today without him.

I will email the club this arvo about it and I think you guys should too.

I guess my small contribution to make to this thread is that I held serious doubts over the viability of the Carlton Football Club until Richard Pratt arrived. He will be sorely, sorely missed in and around the Club, and deserves major credit for what he has done with it in his twilight years. I guess that if I am allowed to copy Martin Luther King, then I would say that I hope Richard has been to the mountain top, and has seen the promised land for the football club. All the best to Richard and his family.

A great person, humanitarian and philanthropist.

Thank you Richard Pratt, your conscience should be clear, and your place in heaven and history is assured.

Best wishes to Richard Pratt and his family.

Thank you Mr Pratt...
My lingering memory will be of you at the family day after you took over...."casual shirt"ed and generally enthusing everybody! ..and as if that wasn't enough ...leading a chorus of "We are the Navy Blues"...and finally presented the Number 1 Jumper with "President" embalzoned across the shoulders...

You are and always will be No 1!!!

(There's a photo on the albums here somewhere...just can't find it!)

Just to think that a man of such wealth and power and seemingly able to achieve the virtual impossible in life; can be cut down by this insidious disease.....the same disease that claimed Ted Whitten.

I am really saddened by the news; and hope somehow he can be spared long enough to see his beloved players win again.

Deeply saddened by the news. I haven't had anything to do with him personally but I could never thank him enough for saving our football club.

Best wishes to Richard and his family.

Terrible news .

Thank you for restoring pride to this great club and giving me the chance to spend many years ahead cheering on our beloved club with my children. Before you arrived I was beginning to believe it wouldn't be possible. I'll have a drink in your honour tonight

Best wishes to Dick and family.

Oh no......

This is sad, without this man the club would have been finished.

If the players dont fire up this weekend then somehting is seriously amiss.

Thank you to Richard for lifting our club from the doldrums and for all the wonderful things he has done for the community. They will not be forgotten, and my prayers go out to him and his family.
