this holding the ball up above our heads to slow play has got to stop. it sends a clear signal to the opposition that we are shutting down for the qtr, giving them the opportunity to attack and score late goals. yes it worked after the Essendon* game early last year, but it should not be used until we can apply better defensive pressure over the whole ground and ensure we have the nous to use it properly. it was what set the swans up for the late charge in the 1st qtr

Pros:

??

Cons:

Team selection
Lack of variety in game plan
Tackling and Defensive pressure
Playing unfit players
Fev's attitude
Lack of forward options (still)
Skills
Turnovers
Falling for Swans gameplan (Hate watching Sydney play)
Beaten by a very average side
Now 2-2. Won about 7 qtrs in 4 weeks.
Another good start stuffed by bad kicking
Too many players looking for easy kick. When Judd tires we are in trouble.
Need some bigger bodies around the ball.

Pros:

Bower, Betts, Judd, Wiggins.

Cons:

Horrible, horrible performance. I can accept that last week's performance was the wake up they needed. But this week was just horrible.
Terrible goalkicking again. Not helped again by the fact the opposition couldn't miss in the first half. We should have been in front by 4 goals at half time.
Horrible field kicking. Lots of inexplicable turnovers.
Not enough run for most of the game. Poor defensive pressure. Poor ball movement.
Some more crap umpiring. The double 50 against Fev and free goal to get them up and going.
Giving up very cheap goals from dumb play. The one before quarter time was a shocker. Why didn't they take it out of play, with only seconds left in the quarter? (What were Judd and Grigg thinking?) Not to mention the other goals given up at stoppages. The MC should know that McVeigh is the go-to player in that situation. Someone needed to lock him down and stop his run at the ball.
Given that Hall and O'Laughlin were out. And O'Keefe didn't score. We should have been able to stop them kicing a winning score. Either very poor coaching. Or very dumb football.
Joseph and Robinson need a rest.

Pros: Judd, Bower. Bower's best game since last season.

Cons: Too many to list. I'm sure others will have a fair stab at it.

JUDD again, every single week his work rate is top notch.

Cons:
mucking around with the ball - handballing over the shoulder
fev
getting the ball out of the centre??
tackling
having swans players i dont know the names of kick goals on us
stevens - there was one time in the third or fourth quarter i think where he was about 52 m out could have handballed in to another player running into our fifty but he goes for the long bomb, the ball gets smother ball goes down the other end, goal.

No game plan
Terrible disposal
Playing backwards again

PRO
Betts
Judd

Bower

CONS
Kicking for goal
Wont go in as favourite next week because we still played like millionaires this week
Players like bird grundy etc making a mockery of more seasoned players Abysmal away record continues -disgraceful that it is 1993 when the last time we beat Sydney in Sydney - disgraceful that it is 8 years since we beat Sydney

Forward line except for Betts non existent - need more prongs -fisher Harlett and Yarran surely need to be considered - love Clokeys endeavour but gee he was slow today
Overhyped - best disposers of ball supposedly johnston and stevens Ordinary
Wouldnt be so bad if we had not lost to Essendon* last week

Need changes -

Pro - lesson in tough football for the kids

Con - goal kicking - 3 :12 at half time, you lose that game every day of the week! Team balance - think its been off for 2 weeks now.

judd - work rate amazing
bower - could not fault his game at all
betts
kruzer
stevens
Russell - terrific on o'keefe

cons
simply could not handle swans stifling contested game plan. When we win a match against either Swans, Crows or Saints I'll know for sure we have improved
rd 1 debut players looked aweful today. they all need time.
play second year players browne and armfield
goalkicking

dissapointing loss but we will match up better next week v dogs

For mine it was a carbon copy of last week, we should have put the game to bed by half time.

Missing easy shots at goal sap confidence.

The game plan was fine until we didn't put the scoreboard pressure on.

Pros
Considering it is supposed to be our weakest aspect the defence was pretty good most of the day without our best defender.

Cons
Dissapointed with Fev (2nd week in a row). Did not have great delivery but looked lazy with the opportunities he did have.
Robinson due for a rest.
Too much left to Judd

I dare say Russell would poll B&F votes today. He was given an important job to do and he did it.

Bower was easily our best player.
