Gee Mike, 12 days ago you had Richmond, with 3 of their 4 top players over 30, one coming back from drug abuse, one recovering from a snapped leg and one described as 'mecurial' and having been beaten by Carlton at their last meeting by 40 as a better side than Carlton. NOW Carlton are a top 4 prospect! I don't need commentators parrot what happens after the fact. Experts are supposed to have an insight before the fact. Even I knew that given the last 15 years has seen a team out of the top eight finish top four the next year, Carlton, Port or Brisbane were a chance to finish top 4 this year. How about insight not just parroting the obvious?

Summed it up beautifully, I think.

If someone kept track of the number of times Sheahan changes his mind in a season it would make very funny reading come season-end.

Obviously extremely pleased about the Blues, but we haven't played one of the top sides yet so let's put a lid on it Mike.

Agree, he is too reactionary.

I think I remember reading an article by Sheahan about Carlton having one of the "Dominant" forward lines of the comp in 2007, when Fisher, Fev and Waite were on fire before the mid season break !!!!!!!!!!!! When then went on to LOSE every game since that article ................

The guy is a goose !!!!!!!!! Blind fred could see we have played 2 good games against mid ranged teams for 1 great and 1 good win. Now come rd 4, 5 and 6 if we win 2/3 of those games THEN we can start to celebrate how we "are here", but before then we are still "coming"

Are we here? I dunno. I did notice this is our best start to the season since 2000, when we scored over 150 in both rounds. We then went on to lose three on the trot getting clobbered by Essendon*, Collingwood and the Bulldogs, then we went on a winning spree winning 13 in a row, kicking it off by thrashing Port.

Then we fell apart a bit towards the end of the season though we thrashed Brisbane in a final.

Got to get over Essendon* first, and then the tough stuff really starts. If things go our way we could possibly be 5-1 or if not 3-3, and if we don't beat Essendon* we could even be 2-4.

Still a lot of water to go under the bridge.

I remember way back when when the Pies just started to grow up, early in Ed and Mick's tenure, they won their first 5 and everyone proclaimed then as the next best thing since cottage cheese, then they fell in a hole.

Inconsistency is a hallmark of young teams, and don't pee on my jacket OK.

Mike Sheahan, like Dwayne Russell, can suck my balls.

Sheahan is the least insightful journo going around. He does little more than a newspaper version of "Did you see that?!"

On top of that, because he knows Carlton supporters are a big group, he's trying to engender some sort of good feelings among us towards their rag of a tabloid.

I won't forget the years of bagging, anti-Carlton articles, and pro-Collingwood and Essendon* puff which all put the boot in when we were down.

News Ltd are scum.

Sorry guys. You don't know how to accept praise when you get it. When was the last time that the Blues were on top of the ladder for two weeks in a row? Can you not remember? I can't. It is so long ago. We all know that our team is doing well. It is early days, but the signs are promising. Sheahan writes a positive article about our club and you bag him. You ungrateful lot. Are you baggin Kevin Rudd for giving you $900? Get a life people. And those that reply remember that I don't get on here often so it will be a week before I read your comments. I have to work for a living.

It's not so much that we're bagging him for writing a positive article, but I know I'm bagging him because he goes where the wind blows. He doesn't hold any particular opinions on anything, but gets them from the footy public. He's the worst kind of bandwagonner.

Other footy journos wrote articles during our black years putting the boots in, but because they were intelligent, insightful pieces, while they stung, the writer had to be given credit for telling it straight. So when those journos report on our rise, it's a documentation of our story, not a see-through attempt at currying favour with Carlton supporters.

We've seen the light at the end of the tunnel coming towards us for a year or 2 now, but Mike Sheahan paid no mind to that, preferring instead to write puff-pieces on Essendon*, or somesuch. Rohan Connolly and Jake Niall at The Age have seen our rise coming for some time now, and have been writing cautiously optimistic pieces for a while.

Mike Sheahan is the equivalent of the nerdy kid at school, bad at sport, no friends, and desperately trying to make people like him.

ummm, this is why the club gave him an all-expenses junket to Malaysia.

this is good publicity. good for the club, good for the sponsors, good for the kiddies, good for the brand.

just don't take it seriously, and it's all good.
