i agree and have been thinking/posting this for a while.

Hampson is from up their, and he's change to walk right in and their main guy will surely be appealing.
i love the hammer, but if we could potentailly package some bentick/carraazzo, fisher types with a guy like hammer, then maybe we could be looking at some tasty picks when they are at a premium.

just thinking aloud. nothing more.

i couldn't help but smile after reading that article

Point is, Emma and a few posters seems to suggest that he was on the outer last year, where as I'm not sure this was the case.

I don't know about the already re-signed bit, but AFAIK he was only released and re-drafted because he had spent the maximum time allowed on the rookie list. To keep him without promoting him we had to re-draft.

I htink ruck trades will always be handy and this is going to maybe get us a top ten pick if we trade him to GC17. They will be looking for local players and have so many top ten picks they will be able to splash them about a bit. We can argue we got him at 19 and spent three years developing him to a top ten trade.
Having said that, we are only two injuries away from needing all the rucks we can keep. We should also bear in mind that he is a gun athlete and if he turns into a good overhead player, we might have a replacement for someone like Fev in a few years time. All the clubs will be looking for the new Franklin...

jacobs coming on, is a bonus for us and offeres us a huge opportunity to free up kreuzer.

jacobs, hampson and warnock to do our ruck work.

kreuzer to play up forward.

I reckon Kreuzer out of the square would be phenomenal and Fevola playing further upfield as a roaming forward, CHF type role and in front of Kreuzer would be fantastic. combine that with the some of the crumbers we are starting to get, would make for a very very handy forward line.

Fevola would be near impossible to man up on, no double teams, and i would back him in more times than not to beat his opponent.

Kreuzer, out of the sqaure, again, (he would need to adapt) but as we saw against Port last year, could be very damamging.

infact, a very similair way in which Brown/Bradshaw work, we could go with Kreuzer/Fevola.

I still think we lack 1 key forward, and if Warnock/Jacobs/Hampson can take care of the ruck work, that frees up Kreuzer to do that role and we continiue to improve and take the next step again.

A forward line of Kreuzer/Fevola/Betts/Yarren (or Garlet)/Wiggins/Robinson would be phenomonal IMO and very hard to stop. combine that with the goals the midfield is kicking at the moment and we would be hitting between 15-20 goals every game IMO, which would take us a hell of a long way to finishing top 4 and having a serious tilt at a flag.

Nothing more to be said. As per usual, well said SS.

Amazing that a 22 year old Brendan Fevola couldn't get a game for that rabble. If Fev had been more mature he'd be on track to pass Sticks' record this year and heading for 1000.

Of course if he'd been mature he wouldn't have lasted to pick 38 :smoking:

You actually went off the rookie list at the end of last season. At the time, did the Club make assurances they would seek to redraft you?

I always knew I was going to stay at Carlton. I don’t know where that rumour about the South Australian Clubs came from, it was all news to me.

At the Rookie Draft, we’d already all signed the papers for me to stay at Carlton. In the National Draft and Pre-Season Draft anyone could have taken me, but for the Rookie Draft there can be a lot more certainty and you basically sign on as a player for a Rookie Draft. It was all done before the day.

That's right Juddanaught, he said he'd already been signed up before the Rookie Draft - so had others - so the day itself was not an issue. he could have bene picked up by anyone before the Rookie Draft but not in the Rookie Draft, according to him.

It's not an especially bad team, but I'm glad we're a long way away from that time.

What about Brad Fisher? With those long arms and bad kicking... Ah, second thoughts, forget it!!!

I knew that we would be a good team once Brad Fisher couldn't make it. I guess that day has arrived. What is the future for the Fish? Not too much by my reckoning. Perhaps if half of our team get gastro then he might get a look in.

In amongst the pros and cons of Sam Jacobs over the years there's probably a prevailing view that he's a bit dinosaur-ish, a bit slow on the run in comparison to other players in the modern game. But watching the Rd2 game again, particuarly Q1 and Q2 you see some interesting things. There's a great pickup for Murphy's Q1 goal where Jacobs basically sees a loose ball, gets to it quicker than anyone, and on knees picks up and handballs to the running player.

Afew minutes into the second and Sauce is makingposition at half forward for a positive entry.

He definitely has some attributes that are useful in this game. Add it to Kreuzer's athleticism and footy smarts and hopefully Warnocks....206...and it's an interesting mix.

He might not be the quickest bloke around, but he's got good ball handling skills. And some footy smarts. And I really love the way he uses his obvious size in the ruck contests. It's been a long time since we've had a ruckman capable of a bit of physical intimidation. He's also really good with his tap work. I reckon there's a bit of Mark Porter about Sauce.
