Meanwhile, Carlton have put midfielder Adam Bentick on the long-term injured list because of a knee problem.

Are we able to elevate another rookie?

Pretty sure we can. Don't think there's a cap on it. Ratts also said that Bentley would have been promoted if there was another spot open. I suppose there is one now.

Not good news for AB . This could be the end for him .

Don't think we should promote anyone yet though . Wait until someone is needed .

No need at the moment, we are having enough difficulty in putting in some of our best 18 into the team

Oh and bad luck for AB :banghead:, good luck in your recovery!!!!

Well no need to turn the lights on in this thread

I'd say Benchy is finished as a senior player sadly. He'll find it very hard to get back into the team now on 2009.

Isn't the main issue of us promoting a Rookie is their salary then becomes included in the salary cap, so if we have cap room we could but if we don't then we can't ...............

That said do we really need to ??? If Walker and Grigg can't get a run at the moment then what chance does Bentley or Stanton ??? Keep it for later on in the year, a nice little carrot to hang in front of the rookies to get some performances out of them

Oh, and isn't Garlett an elevated rookie ??? He may need to be elevated again later in the year if/when Warnock comes back.

You can't "bank" the rookie upgrade. Assuming Bentick is injured for 8 weeks, Any rookie upgraded has until round 9 to be on the senior list.

Seeing as Pfeiffer is injured, Hill is a fair way away, Stanton ditto, Ellard would be the only other option. I reckon they'll hold onto the spot as a carrot for Ellard and Bentley, in particular, to compete for, for a couple of weeks.

I think (emphasise THINK) the salary of the player put on the LTI is taken off, so there is always room for an upgrade due to LTI - or am I mistaken?

No point if they're not going to play seniors. We're already leaving our best players out of the senior side so no need to elevate anyone at this stage.

If they weren't at least considering a rookie elevation, they wouldn't have put Adam on the LTI list. Agree though, that unless we have a spate of midfielder injuries, Bentley and Ellard won't get a look in

Yeah but what happens if Bentick's injury lasts longer than Warnock's ??? Then we have Garlett on the rookie list and a player we have no intention of using as an elevated rookie ...........

If someone deserves an elevation and we plan on playing them then great, elevate them right away. If we don't plan on playing the other guy then why do it while there is still a chance that it could be used, later on, to reelevate Garlett if Warnock comes back before Bentick.

Sure, if Bentick is out for say, 12 weeks, I assume Garlett can stay on longer. If Garlett maintains his spot and is playing good footy all year, there will be pressure to find a way to keep him on. Who knows, Bentick may be told that he's not going to get a game and be asked to stay an LTI for longer than he needs to. Can't see Garlett doing enough for long enough for that to be an issue, especially if Yarran comes on.

I don't think Warnock will be back this year
