Quote:
For Carlton, of course, everything is dandy. It backed in four first-gamers, it played with speed and precision but most importantly the young side intimidated Richmond. There is a sense of enjoyment with Carlton that is compelling. It was so evident in Mitch Robinson, the would-be albino from Tasmania.

After the game he could not contain his joy. He told Channel 10 how his parents had said they were so proud of him, of how excited he was to play with Carlton, in a winning side, in front of nearly 87,000 people. Not all professional sport is grim and graceless.

Coach Brett Ratten is in charge almost by accident. An assistant at Melbourne, he walked away from the big league to coach in suburban Melbourne. He turned up at Carlton in 2007 as an assistant to Denis Pagan, a man who had lost his magic. Ratten took over the senior role with six games to go and club and team now boast they are chasing a finals place.

I didn't think you had it in you Patrick. And you thought you'd sneak it past me by hiding it half way down the article. But there it was. Three little paragraphs. Broadly complimentary with, dare I suggest even undertones of approval. No menion of past transgressions. Only mildly insulting to Ratten (and less so than to the other coaches mentioned in the article).

Well done old son. I want to you to know that I'm a fair minded person I'm prepared to let bygones be bygones if you are. Today, you were almost a jounalist, and if we keep working together, I think we can get you there. Play on.

Another one happy to sink the boots into us and insult us at every turn, now wanting to bask in some of the light at the end of our tunnel. He can get flowered.

it's just sad.

oh well some people get the same amount of enjoyment for bagging other teams than supporting their own.

He can choke heartily on a large hard portion of our resurgence the pus-ridden pile of pig-shit.

Methinks Patrick's good friend Paul Kerr (one of Laurie's sons) might have finally twisted his arm and got him to write a positive Carlton article. I enjoyed the read.
