Pros:

Everyone contributed;

Including all 4 debs (Robinson is a gun);

Hadlee was fantastic (first 3 quarters especially);

Kruezer much better than pre-season;

Eddie Betts is now a star.

Cons:

Richmond were pathetic (I've never seen a side butcher the ball as badly);

our set-shot kicking for goal was very poor (so was theirs);

we got a dream run from the umpires (that won't happen again).

Brendan Fevola leading Goal of the Year.

Simon Wiggins leading Mark of the Year.

Mitch Robinson leading the NRS (but only because Carrots isn't eligible).

:grin:

I'd give the Goal of the Year nod to Murph at this stage.

PRO : we played the attacking football and made them worry about our players , rather than concentrating too much on defensive tactics and shutting their players down, waite showed richo up big time , we took the game on and smashed them

CON: its thursday and it feels weird the footy was on and i have to go to work tomorrow

Pros: Match Committee and everything else

Con: Chris Johnson

I don't want him in the 22 if he's going to be a liability as a defender.

O'Keeffe and his left foot might get a game if he's a better one on one defender than Johnson.

Riley was spot on. :mad:

I don't live in Melbourne unfortunately. I live in Sydney. I got to livestream over the internet (which was difficult because I had to go through all the stations commentating for the game until K-Rock picked up, thankfully). :smile:

PROS
Forward line pressure
Pace
Joseph was fantastic as a tagger on Brown who is overrated
Hitouts My man Jacobs may be a bit slow but he is strong and destroyed Simmonds in the ruck contests. Will hold his own this year against most opposition
Depth With the new guys we have some blokes who arnt guarenteed a game

CONS
Johnson one on one was ordinary
The opposition were witches hats
Fevs injury Should not have played Just get it right and bring in Walker to substitute until he is 100% fit. We can beat the Lions and Filth without him

WE PULLED THERE FLOWERING PANTS DOWN ON THE BIGGEST STAGE...... what more could we ask for!

My biggest pros were the performances of Robbo and Hadley. I had major concerns with Hadley but for me he was best on ground and boy do i hope he can string plenty of games together.

The Tigers board might as well sack Terry Wallace now and replace him with Joyce Brown (Australias best netball coach) cause our netball team showed more ticker than the tigers

This is a well drilled side. I remember watching the Hawks 2 years ago and being envious at how thier guys just knew what to do. Same thing with our guys last night. The use of short to medium diagonal kick and handball to break lines was something I hadn't seen before, and it was decisive because Richmond didn't know how to defend it. Ratts and everyone else deserve major kudos for the way they have shaped and instructed the side in the offseason. Guys like Murphy, Wiggo, and Simpson took options last night they wouldn't have even considered last year - to re-tool experienced players like that is a major accomplishment. To me this was easily the biggest pro of the night.

In the same breath - how on earth can Wallace spend 5 years with a side and have them play like that? On the tv shots, he looked out of answers by 15 mins into the first quarter. They'll get pumped by Geelong next week, and then it is just a countdown until we see the back of Teflon Terry!

Good observations. I agree this morning's euphoria owes a lot to Richmond's inadequacies so next week against the Lions will probably give us a better test.

I wanna see how we come up against the Lions next satday night. I think this will give us a clearer indication as to where we're at. The lions like to play a physical style of game
