Interesting – they still have an opportunity to elevate Garlett to replace Warnock, but they have said they presently do not plan to do that, so maybe Yarran and Betts is enough in that regard. In all honesty they might be fearing for the skinny runt’s life – once the real shit starts next Thursday, the hits will be harder and the tackles more vicious. Garlett could be snapped in two like a twig.

I’m not entirely surprised by Joseph’s elevation – what he did on Gary Jnr was something we have sorely lacked.

Jacobs was a no brainer.

Fantastic news. Both boys deserved this.
Still a "long term injury" elevation to come.

Lovely... I happy with the promotions...

I'm predicting that Garlett will get the LTI promortion. Now that means Warnock will be out for atleast 8 weeks... if he comes back after that 8 weeks, then for 2 rounds garlett will go back onto the rookie list before the round 12 promotion occurs... no biggie

I do not follow the Jacobs nomination... should have been brought on through the LTI opening... have we no faith in Hammer?

Agree with the Garlett decision, but perhaps we could have stuck with just the one nominated rookie?

Welcome to the Carlton Family Jacobs and Joseph.

I'm sure Garlett will get his chance - it took Kade Simpson a season or so to get a senior game and when he did it took him 4 games to get a kick  - I am sure the Match Committee just want to ensure that Garlett puts on a kilo or so before throwing him to the wolves.

As I said before our Rookie stocks are now an embarrassment of riches rather than the riches of embarrassment they once were.

I think Habib may be right with our Rookie Management Strategy.

Garlett kicks goals - it doesn't matter how skinny he is...he knows how to kick goals. He would have played against big bodied blokes in the WAFL and would have adapted ok.

I would have liked to have seen Garlett in 1st grade...oh well, we will have to be patient I guess.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooo Blues!

Perhaps the LTI spot is reserved for Pfeiffer when he's over his shoulder injury

Congrats to Sammy and AJ btw. Well deserved. AJ looks ready to rock I reckon.

Has this news been officially reported yet? Happy with AJ and Sauce getting the nod, thoroughly deserved, but definitely feeling a little disappointed about Garlett. I'm guessing he'll get his chance when the next opportunity to promote a rookie comes halfway through the season. Having a "champing at the bit" Garlett for rounds 12-22 after he's spent some time with The Ants might be just what we need. Don't think he'll get the LTI possie before then but you never know.

The deadline for nominated rookies who get promoted due to their team having one or no veterans was today.

Garlett still can (and imo will) get promoted for Warnock, who's on the LTI list. This will happen just before he plays his first game.

The reason Garlett wasn't promoted right away is because if you promote someone for a LTI the promoted player's salary counts in the SC, whereas nominated rookies salaries do not.

I think the Club has made the right call on this one. Jacobs to break even in the ruck and Joseph to put the hurt on the opp0osition smart arse forward pocket from Round 1...

Il'd say elevation due to Warnock being on the LTI list and then promoted full time after rd 11 ???

In a team crying out for a goal kicker who can apply forward pressure, I'm not sure what more Garlett could have done to get a spot.

Well, defer to their better judgement but have to admit to being disappointed.
