WRT Rookies, Pfieffer was on the primary list last year after we took him in the PSD I think when Adelaide delisted him. Jacobs and most of the other rookies were let go and then re-rookied in the rookie draft. If they are young enough and still qualify, by delisting and then re-rookie' ing the players the count starts again. of course you run the risk that another club with a higher pick might steal a promising rookie. There might be a few clubs right now that wish they had nicked Jacobs off us, Melbourne in particular could do with a talented young ruck option (or even just a couple of blokes that can play)

I remember hearing from the commentators during one of our pre-season games that according to the rules if Jacobs wasnt promoted this yr...he's gone. Is this true?

yes... but it doesnt have to be now or mid year... but by the end of the year... the maximum a player can stay on a club's rookie list, is 3 years

Even if you re-rookie him? I'd assumed that rule applied in a single stint on the list; Jacobs has been delisted and re-rookied.

I thought the rules were:
Maximum stint for a local rookie before requiring delisting or elevation - 2 years
Maximum stint for an international rookie before requiring delisting or elevation - 3 years
Minimum contract length for an interstate player rookied - 2 years (i.e. if they are sacked after one year, they need to be paid out)

if thats true... sweet.

I've rarely heard of a player on a rookie list for 4 years...actually never heard of that before...

Jacobs - He's been playing very well and giving us something in terms of presence in the ruck contest.

AJ - His shut down role on Harvey was good, but his job on Ablett was something special. Considering we're talking about two of the best players over the past three seasons, it's no easy task. I know a bloke who plays down at the Bullants and he reckons AJ is the most annoying/frustrating bloke to play on. He said he is extremely strong and continually yaps in your ear when he's playing on you.

He also reckons Garlett is a cheating front runner. I thought that was funny.

So AJ and Sammy for mine.

I may have missed something, but why not elevate Jacobs to replace Warnock now he is on the LTI. That way, if Pfeiffer has been given the nod already, the last spot would probably be between Joseph and Garlett. Personally, I would ideally have Joseph and Garlett ahead of Pfeiffer anyway, but seems as though that's not an option. Didn't Pfeiffer just re-do his shoulder in the Ants game on the weekend as well?

This is killing me. So 2 nominations and a LTI promotion, is that right?

Icke has indicated it will be two rather than three.

Alleged rumour has it that it will be an LTI promotion and one nominated rookie. The suspense is killing me.

eat your hat gro...

joseph and jacobs promoted

both nominated rookies

We can promote a third through an LTI (ie Warnock) and after Rd 11 all clubs can promoote another rookie.

If that info is correct, I think a few of us will be scratching our heads after eating our hats!

Garlett should have been a shoe in you would have thought!

Welcome the new Franchina. It is obvious why they gave him no.45. Who knows he might just play on Nathan Brown in Round 1.

I'm sure Garlett will get promoted at some stage. He is the obvious standout out of the ones remaining.

With no Garlett I guess this means Yarran is a shoe-in for round 1.

AJ has arrived!! I predicted this on the 6th October 2008

Well done Sauce as well.

With Garlett missing I'd assume Yarran is set to play Round 1 also, unless he does get promoted for Warnock's LTI which can happen any time.

(Can i have a medal now please)

We have plenty of small/mid size guys fighting for spots in that fwd line

yarran
robinson
betts
wiggins
fisher
walker
russell
garlett

plus edwards & hartlett down the pecking order

I'm a big garlett fan, but plenty of time ofr him to develop at the Bullants and still the option of using the LTI rookie spot if needs be.

Glad to hear, congrats boys, make it stick.

As disapponted as I am about Garlett, it makes sense. Do the hard yards, and your chance will come. Takes more than a couple of good NAB cup games to get hold of that hallowed senior spot.
