Its hard to believe so many people can get so upset about a team named in the Herald Sun

Its hard to believe there are people out their masquerading as a journalist on a sport they quite clearly shouldn't be writing about.

Hi Everyone !!

I have been reading without posting for a number of years but have finally decided to add my 2 cents worth.

I always take with a grain of salt the information that journalists publish. For example the Sunday Herald Sun listed Jamieson as one of the best players from Saturday night's game whilst leaving out Thornton from our best. I thought Jamieson had a poor game whilst Thornton was our second best player behind Grigg for the night.

In relation to our best 22 surely Walker and Grigg are walk up starts and I don't believe that Yarran has done enough just yet to find his way into the best 22. I also think that Jarrad Waite's best spot is at CHF which would in turn help Fisher to become more dnagerous as he would then be assigned the 3rd best defender not the 2nd. Cloke needs to be played as close to goal as possible and I see him filling the role as the pack marking option when all others are covered. One bloke that showed a little bit the other night was Mark Austin. I think that we should continue to play him in defence so that we can eventually free up Jarrad Waite to go forward. For round 1 you will find that Ratten and the MC won't play too many first gamers as this could backfire in such a big game. Mitch Robinson I think will play as he has the physicallity to cope with such a pressure game. Not sure if Yarran will play at this stage. Anyway Can't wait for the season to start !!

I just love the fact that we're arguing about where we are going to fit quality players into the side, rather than a debate about when Callan Beasy is going to get a game or how we have to rush Justin Davies back into the side.

Brad, for me it's more to do with the overall bigger picture, ie: that journalists for Melbourne's biggest selling newspaper are writing complete rubbish. I'd have liked to have thought that having your words read by so many people would fuel one to actually do a better job. I'd like to think if I was in his shoes I'd be a bit more clued up.

But that's the intention......to get people arguing about it......and like Sheahan's Top 50 players.....it works.

First time poster.

I think when we consider the best Carlton side that the reality is that the best side will never be available week in week out because of injuries / suspensions etc.

The names mentioned / discussed will pobably all play significant game time during the year particularly players such as Cloke, Wiggins. Fisher, Russell and Carazzo even though they may be seen by us as somewhat borrowing ( ie their potential is fully understood unlike newer / younger players who in our minds will all be "champions" - if only )

Other players listed such as Yarran / Jacobs etc are more likely to get games ( game time ) but only on a limited basis this year given their respective youth / development

I think the reason Tex isnt in the HUN's starting 22 is more to do with his injury problems that with his ability. If he is fully fit, he would probably be in our top 6 in terms of pure ability. Hopefully he can address his field kicking, which I think is what is holding him back from being a topliner (besides the wonky shoulders) :fight:
