Fisher at CHF is a joke. He is 3rd tall AT BEST, and is at leat our 3rd or 4th option for that spot IMO. Wiggins on the bench is also a joke considering that Walker and Griggs couldn't even make the side.

For me, our BEST side with ALL players available would be

Armfield/Browne.. Jamison ............ Thornton
Scotland ............. Bower ............. Grigg
Waite ................Stevens..............Walker
Houlihan..............Cloke.................Kreuzer
Betts....................Fev..................Yarren
Warnock..............Judd..................Murphy

Hampson, Carazzo, Simpson, Hadley

EMG

Browne, Robinson, Wiggins

(I have Armfield JUST ahead of Browne for the small defender role)

Pretty harsh on the journo on leaving Grigg and Walker out of the team considering that you didn't think Gibbs was good enough to make the team.

criminal how ill informed some 'journos' are.

1. Bower ahead of grigg - wtf? grigg isnt a KPP, never has been. They play different roles, not to mention grigg is more a mid nowadays
2. Daniel wells coming into his fourth year
3. Fisher 'has the strength to take more contested marks further up the ground, but doesn't do it often enough' - wtf? fisher has never really been what you would call a 'strong' player - strong mark yes, strong player - no way if you compare him to other KPP. Not to mention that fisher is more suited closer to goal.
4. On a question of fisher's potential as a backline player - 'But at 192 cms, Fisher is about the same build as Thornton and Jamison' - fisher doesnt have the strength for body on body contests and doesnt have the pace off the mark to be a defender. Same height doesnt mean same build
5. On potential CHF options - 'At 185 cms, Robinson is not tall enough and it would put too much pressure on him. Perhaps Hadley could be tried there rather than keep switching Waite halfway through a game?' - WTF? - no mention of people who have played there ie kreuzer/cloke/hartlett. Obviously being 190cm, hadley is a candidate CHF. Players like wiggins or walker, who have pace and can mark would easily be better CHF options than hadley.
6. On yarran - 'Carlton have earmarked him as a strong forward. A bit like a cross between a Fisher and Betts.' - huh? - I've only seen yarran in the cats game, but in all that I've read, I've never seen that sort of player comparison
7. Also on forward options -'Hampson had a short spell there against Geelong. Whether he's mobile enough is the big question. But they shouldn't assess that when you're up against the Cats' defence.' - WTF? Hampson not mobile enough? Obviously being a tall ruckman, hampson has no mobility. Hampson showed a decent burst of speed to outrun geelong players (non ruckman) twice in the NAB game. Also been reports that Hampson tested in the top 5 at the club for pace (off the mark?) over the preseason.

If they want to run a live blog, find someone who is familiar with the players at the club or has done some #%%#$%#$ research!!!

I laughed so hard I almost cried at the idea that Fish could be our answer in defense!

Bruce comes across as a nice guy, but he clearly has absolutely no idea about our team whatsoever.

The idea that Grigg and Bower are competing for the same spot is just ridiculous. Oh, and the fact we have depth because we now have Bentick and Bannister on the list? These guys were struggling to get a game last year (admittedly Bannister was injured), so how do they add to our depth this year?

Can you imagine if Bruce was a poster on this site, and he had have come up with that line up and those opinions about or team?

I'm just wondering what hampson needs to do to be considered 'mobile'! :screwy:

Duh, he's making the insightful point that Yarran is taller than Betts and shorter than Fisher. It's routinely noted that Chris Judd is a mix of Sandilands and Liberatore. It's too easy for keyboard heroes to snipe at professional journos, and I've had a gutful. :smoking:

doesnt have to be height - it could also be other areas too you know
not as heavy as betts, heavier than fisher?
not as tanned as betts, more tanned than fisher?

even fisher has 2 vowels and betts has a double letter (tt) - yarran has 2 vowels and a double letter (rr)!!!

After watching the Geelong game I've started to admire the worth Hadley brings in, in tight situations he was brilliant with his execution and decision making. I think he deserves a spot on the bench, probably ahead of Carrazzo, Armfield and Hampson - Cloke and Kreuzer can fill in the secondary Ruck rolls. I would put in Robinson for a bit of spark.

BTW with all the rotations, don't think you can really pin point a starting 18. Coaches will mix and match within each game until something works out.

Laughable.

Perhaps the fact Clokes opponent had 20 possessions to half time swayed their opinion.

yeh but how many of them were legal

I give up.
How many of them were legal?

BV I think Sydney was referring to the number of times Taylor flicked the ball out rugby style when tackled rather than a legal handball. I think there were quiet a few. He actually made reference to it after the game in an interview.

That may be true, but the Grigg omission is inexcusable. And I'm not just saying that as his patron Saint either.

I was being sarcastic CB as it was a bad article on so many levels.

He would make a good Sri Lankan Spin bowler - full on chucker - hardly awayone of his hand passes looked legal

i have to admit...

although i agree with most people about Grigg...when i read the starting 22 it looked pretty good to me and sounded about right. It was only after i kept reading and realised Grigg, Armfield and a few others were emergencies did i realise...

shows we have depth.

I think Cloke is the best option we have, for the moment, at CHF. However, i don't like the fact that the last 4 games have probably produced the 2 BOG's playing on him at the time.

The thing is i've never noticed Fisher's opponents getting BOG, could that be they are respecting his ability a bit more

I'm glad you agree Cloke is our best option at CHF

Why? That's sadder than when Parkin thought we were 'wasting'
Kouta by playing him in the backline only this time the predicament's inverted.

By the way...Is the idea of using Grigg more often in the forward-line totally out of the question? :?

On performances ... surely Robinson has been the stand out young player and must be in the team against Richmond. Yarran has only played one game so far ... showed not much ... so Robinson has to be ahead of him for a game. Next best of out of our new players was Garlett ... not Yarran.

I have to say that Grigg has been fantastic ... those that did not like his selection in the draft must be fairly surprised with his ability. Absolutely cemented his spot in the team.

Arseholes and opinions...

The fact there are two blokes who are yet to play H & A senior football in the starting eighteen for a team that should play finals football says it all.

In saying that, I was more offended by the p0ictures of David Calthorp0e and Matthew Knights then the write up0 on Carlton...
