29 Squad members:

Average Age: 21.34
Average Games: 51.03

8 players yet to debut in the Home and Away competition.

I would say the first time 8 rookie listed players have played in an NAB Cup game?

I must say their is nothing more exciting than watching kids play in the Navy Blue jumper, lets hope they do us proud.

Yes agree Mjonc. Really looking forward to the game. I think this young group will give a good account of themselves. Geelong by 24pts.

Thanks for the stats mjonc.

BIG test for the kids. Big occasion for the rookies.

I'm really looking forward to watching the next crop of upcoming players tonight.

Squad selections Stanton, Pfieffer and Edwards played in the Ants and wont play tonight, so the list may unfold like this tonight.

B: Armfield Jamison Thornton
HB: Austin Bower Johnson
C: Anderson Stevens Russell
HF:Yarran Cloke Wiggins
F: Fisher Kreuzer Betts

FOLL: Jacobs Hadley Grigg

I/C Hampson Joseph Browne Garlett O'Keefe Bentley

Sub: Hill Ellard

Well that's the team, but will probably line up diferently though.

The first 18 are not bad at all, and it will be interesting to see at what stage they are all at in their CFC career.

IMO Armfield Jamison, Grigg, Jacobs and Betts have stepped up.
Great to see tough nuts Hadley, Wiggins and Browne in.

Great opportunity for Hampson, Jacobs, Austin, Anderson, Johnson, Yarran, Garlett and Joseph to put their case foward for 2009.

I/C isn't going to set the world on fire; they're novices who are not ready for the big league yet. But anything can happen.

WE have stars Judd, Fevola, Waite, Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson, Walker, Scotland and Houlihan missing, along with who I would consider in our first 22 Robinson, Warnock, Carrazzo, and O'hAlpin. That's 13 senior players missing imo.

I can't wait to see this unfold. Win, draw or lose, this game is going to be a learning experience for those playing and the MC.

Go Bluebaggers.

I'm really excited about tonight. No pressure whatsoever, which is a good feeling. I expect the cats to win handsomely, but think it's a great opportunity for the young guys to test themselves against the benchmark of the competition. So as long as the boys hold their own, and no injuries come out of it, I'll be happy.

I hope that what Stevie J said was true, and that they don't treat the boys any differently to other opposition. The lads need a big test.

Also, doesn't it again just highlight the hypocrisy of the footy media? We're resting about half a dozen regulars, yet we're the ones making a mockery of the pre-season comp. The hawks had 9 regulars out last week, and don't even get me started on Sydney. But as always, the sound of crickets is deafening.

Just gleaning over the teams... don't concern yourself too much with Bryan; he has not even made the Geelong squad of 29.

So back to the game on hand tonight...

According to the Bullants report, Stanton, Pfeiffer and Edwards are not playing tonight. Not sure who the two subs are yet, would hazzard a guess and say Jamo and Kreuzer?

Why Kreuzer? He's already missed a match and only rolled an ankle.

Why Kreuzer and Jamison?

I would think that whilst Jamo is FB he is not running 10 kms or being used as a jumping bag during games thus far.

Kreuzer had a rest last week, and we've got 3 ruckmen playing with him, Hammer and Jacobs.

I would say Hill will be a sub for a start; he's in the squad and didn't play yesterday. He may swap with Browne (interupted preseason. The other may be between Bentley and O'Keefe.

Have to remember the first year players (Yarran, Garlett, Bentley, O'Keefe) have been doing only 70% of the preseason workload others are expected to do.

Ratts has stated publicly that he'd like to see how Yarran, Betts and Garlett woyuld be like playing simultaneously in the forwardline...I'm excited by the prospect...just to see glimpses of the potential of these baby Blues.

Ellard and Joseph, two other rookies seem quite fit this year, and may play 4 quarters.

I felt those players are important to Round 1. We have plenty of cover for Kreuzer and Jamo playing in this game.

If not Grigg has earnt a rest.

Last year we had quite a group of OS TC'ers. Blue Sombrero for one, has returned to the mother country so are there any other non residents out there?
