Ironic that his name is Murphy really.

Murphy's Law.
Fool's Gold.

They're just a couple of terms that spring to mind. :?

Blues2005,

You really need to accurately read what people write rather than consume other people's opinions with your own extensions of their opinions.

We do not need another wooden spoon. Why?

I still have my one from 2002 that stirs the spagnola very well

Anyway, imagine the Monday after round 22 finishes, imagine all those work colleagues who have been laying into you all year how pathetic Carlton are and how all you can do is stand/sit their and take it on the chin. This is our chance to turn it back in there face and stick that spoon where it fits, not along side the 16 premierships cups in the trophy cabinet at Carlton.

We must win to show everyone in the AFL community we will not accept a losers mentality, that the passion and spirit that has won us the 16 premierships can also be used to prevent defeat.

Win this game and against the Bombers and we end up with 2 star youngsters, 1 wizard cup trophy and a mass cleanout of the playing list.

That is my wish and my final post ... for half an hour while i have dinner

And what if we get the spoon and we don't get a single premiership in the next ten years?

ST KILDA HAVE A RAFT OF HIGH DRAFT PICKS. IF SOMEONE COULD SHOW ME WHERE THEY'VE WON A FRIGGIN' PREMIERSHIP SINCE 1966 I'D BE MIGHTY IMPRESSED.

We cannot afford to fall into this whore mentality. What would Bob Chitty think of all this?

true deano, problem is they rely too much on their potential....half of them dont put in because they are surrounded by 12-13 "match winners" plus, we already have the coach who can get us grannys....stkilda dont....i agree, we should not become prostitutes....but by god, lets not start the whole "we dont rebuild" thing again...havent we paid the price for that already?

firstly on my sig. Its a sad ,mournful cry not a claim of what we should do - find and read the thread where i originally said it (if you can - hey jar jar) )

now on Murohy funny - huge talent but i also know someone well connected to Brisbane and they fear Murphs is after the moola - BIG TIME! I know someone whose sons once played cricket with Murph's boys and boy did he let that cliub down - Big Time! - all about opportunity.

Now this could of course be crap. these two blokes may be bitter and twisted and all wrong.

I readily admit it

but they could also know more than us

and we may not have the leader you think

and we will not know until

but this much i am certain of

no one - not even Judd - is the single player a club must have to have success.

Come on Vintage you're being unrealistic and ridiculous - I've seen Murphy play I know that he's a good player and will go high in the draft. But the way you're pinning our immediate future on what is at the end of the day an 18-year old kid who might not even get to the club anyway is insane for mine. As I said Vintage, the club will become successful again whether or not Mark Murphy is a part of that success. Carlton FC will survive with or without Murphy, I don't care how good he is. But then maybe every other club should just forfeit from participating in this year's draft - maybe let's even scrap the draft altogether, as it's clear that if you don't have pick 1 and take Murphy there's nothing else resembling talent to be found. Every other player is a dud so why bother with the draft? See it sounds stupid doesn't it? Of course it does! But the way you're carrying on about Murphy as if he's some sort of Messiah is equally ridiculous!

BLues2005,
Consult someone who knows something about recruiting before you go on your emotional rollercoaster, it's tiresome, while your language and arguments are ridiculous and laden with someone who is caught in the emotive superiority of their own opinion. My assessment of Murphy would be shared by virtually EVERY AFL recruiter.

About all I can do to address your hollow rhetoric is that, yes there is other talent in the draft, but no other player which will GUARANTEE you the contribution and leadership you'll get out of one particular player. At Carlton we have a history of great leadership and in five years Murphy could continue that leadership, the key is in his approach to the game.

You really need to speak to someone who can comment on his father's apporach to playing football, to fill you in on why he is is such a valueable commodity. These characteristics are why he is so INVALUABLE.

Lie down and have a bex.

You're the one forecasting doom and gloom for the years ahead should we not get Murphy Vintage but I'm the one on the emotional rollercoaster? :? Quite clearly Murphy can play, Vintage, that's not at issue though. I have no misgivings about his talent and not in one of my posts on this subject have I expressed any about Murphy's ability.

But the way you make Murphy sound Vintage we might as well scrap the draft, save 15 other clubs the trouble and Murphy should just go to whoever finishes last and the draft ends there!

and youre the one that keeps changing your nick about when were back!!!
at the end of the day coming last will get us up quicker than coming second last.
Murphy is the standout... and we get a crack at the best uncontracted footballer in the country.
Isnt that enough for you?
Hawthorn had the luxury of TWO early picks in a better draft than this years.. theyre already showing us a clean set of heels when it comes to bringing in talent.
I really cant see how some people cant see past their own noses ... as if a year or two is the be all of the club....
I can take 3 or 4 years of pain.. i cant take a list full of shit cos you know what????.. our good players will leave if we dont QUICKLY get some class around them...

Bob Chitty???? thats another era.....!!!

What i know is we played StKilda and they had a heap of injuries , their best player didnt play and both of their 'spirituaL leaders'(whatever that means) and they wiped the floor with us....

Wanna know why????

cos they have talent and we dont...

Simple really...talent= good..
no talent= no good.

Chitty played with talent... now the only way you can bring talent into the club is through the draft systems...

Dannyboy... Murphy is worth it... dont let anyone fool you.
as a matter of fact he has very good character and leadership qualities...

Its not like we dont need these commodities at a club so devoid of them...

The kids like roughhead and Franklin are far better than our kids and we beat them is a falacy.... they lost a game they should've won.
As one who has attended all games this year..... we were lucky to beat the Bummers and Hawks first time round!!

Well we dont have many good players thats why we have won 19 games of the last 81 or 82.....

(Less than 25%) Which is terrible considering we overachived last year to win 10 games...

And some people want to continue to go down that path of nothingness...

Talking about stupidity!!!!

People forget how crap we have been... as if you need to be told....!!!!

3 or 4 years of pain Synbad? Really? How can it be pain if you're happy about losing games? Some people genuinely do not want us to lose games!

Because it's all about Murphy.

He won't go to the Hawks if they finish last.
It's us or Brisbane.

Huge difference if you knew what is going on BB2005... huge difference!!!!

To you its no different... well theres a cut off line for everything... Life is like that.. windows of opportunity and wrong trams to board...

You can board the right tram and go to the right stop or you can board the wrong tram that makes your trip home longer...

A couple of weeks ago you didnt even want a priority pick....!!!
This is a huge game for the future of this footy club.... you can say it doesnt matter... and Hawthorn add Murphy to Roughead and Franklin (cos we didnt think coming low last year was the right option) or we can take a future all Australian...

Who is your pick for pick number 2 BB2005.. make a call!!! i saw you at the carnival... you tell me who the next standout is...

How do you know this ?

I understand that Murphy's grandfather played for the hawks and would be happy if that was a destination for him, but I believe he will end up in Brisbane. Why not learn from the best without any pressure.

Haha. Not really an us against them. It's just some people have the Plague, and some are lucky and don't. I don't think there's many who actually like us losing ... is there?
