For the good of our club this season, i want to put up a good fight against Geelong on Saturday and lose by less than 15 points.

Blues Stars to Rest

http://afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabi ... fault.aspx

I really hope Ratten "does" this and rests the players he needs too.

Rest Judd, Fev, Murphy and Gibbs............

Seriously, we've got $80,000 in prize money - that'll come in handy.

The rest this comp is a joke, let's not risk injury or burn out our key players. I want em fit and ready to fuck-up Richmond in round 1.

Bring in Jake, Ellard, Kreuzer, Yarran, Walker, Austin, Bannister, The Chief for Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Fev, Waite and Simmo. Big chance for several fringe players to impress.

Would love to see AJ run with Ablett or Chapman, great learning experience for the kid.

Austin at CHB in place or Waite.

Lets introduce Milburn to Robbo, or if Carlos can somehow play

Good to hear about players being rested.

Not fashed if we win, lose or get annihilated on Saturday night.

I hope Kreuzer, Yarran, Walker Austin and Browne play and Hadley is on the field for most of the match. The likes of Judd, Fev, Gibbs, Murphy etc can have a rest.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these guys get a run and hope that Ratten does rest quite a few of our starting 22 players.
I'm glad that we're finally treating the NAB cup as a series of glorified practice matches.

I agree with resting Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Waite, Fev and possibly Gibbs (although it would be a good time to see how he goes as a major figure in the midfield). I hope Walker comes in for a game, Hadley can play in the mid for say 70-80% GT and Steven's can drop the expetiment as a sweeper in the backline.

My team would look something like this

Browne.....Jamison.....Thornton
Johnson.....Bower.......Grigg
Houlihan....Gibbs.......Walker
Betts.........Cloke.......Russel
Yarren.......Kruzer......Fisher
Hampson...Stevens....Hadley

Jacobs, Anderson, Hartlett, Robinson, Wiggins, Austin

Sub. Edwards (Sub with Hartlett at half time), Armfield (Sub with Anderson at half time)

Alternatively you could drop Gibbs and play a tagger in Anderson or Armfield and have say Gartlett on the bench.

I think we will get beaten/thumped next week, but Judd and some of the stars need to tone down their preparation for rd 1, dropping out of the comp in the semi's wont be the worst thing in the world as long as we don't get stuck playing too whoop whoop in the Challenger comp, and it will let us see how we go if the preverbial hits the fan and we are struck down by a heap of injuries at once ............

I don't care about this week's result - in fact I'd prefer to lose

However if we win I'll care about the following week...

let's give
Austin a full game at CHB
Edwards or Hartlett a full game at FF, or swapping
Hammer some time in the goal square.
Hadley lots of time in the middle

very happy if we rest,
judd, murphy, simpson, fevola and waite.
then something like this,
armfield jamison thornton
johnson austin bower
robinson gibbs stevens
houlihan cloke fisher
betts hartlett gartlett

hampson hadley grigg

i/c; jacobs russell bently browne anderson joseph
subs; ellard and walker

no injury policy plain and simple.
out; judd, murphy, simpson, fevola, and waite.
in; walker, ellard, browne, hartlett and austin.
if hartlett is still out with an injury maybe edwards can come in.

Like that team, so many stars out but still looks like a competitive unit. I'd give AJ another run (for Harts) and perhaps have Army play and leave Gibbs/Stevo as a sub.

seriously, we need to get the @#$%&! out of this shit. don't want to get caught up in the hype that will come with playing either Essendon* or collingwood in a NAB grand final. It can only distract from round 1

..provided players are managed properly and we have a good hit out, i won't mind a little loss.. ..won't enjoy a thumping, would lurve a win.. ..but, if Gabblet plays i'd like to see Army on him where-ever he goes..

I suspect Geelong will do us a favour and be too good for us in this one. Hopefully Yarran gets a gig and can play at least a half... Be good to see a forward line of Kruezer, Yarran, Garlett, Robbo, etc. Like a lot of people, I'd like to see how we structure things if Fev is rested: probably use a player to lead from the square in a similar role. I reckon if AW was fit, he'd be a handful up forward.
