Yarran and Krooz won't be playing this week.

Unfortunate, but expected. I really wanted to see these two get some good miles in their legs before the real stuff.

How about some of the others. ROK, Stanton, Ellard, Edwards?

No Fev - No worries

Yep, whlst Fev is in the team they will always kick it to him , it is called human nature and no AIS course will knock that out of them. Players want reward for effort. When Krooz (maybe Tex?) inevitably becomes the superstar we all expect, sure we'll have a Buddy/Roughie combo and the inside 50 spot ups will not be so Fev centric. Think also Lynch/Brown, Lloyd/Lucas.

Waite is the FF if Fev goes down. Without another gun forward, it's obvious. Harts or Fish are welcome to prove me wrong. I'd say the MC accept that Waite is plan B, too, a powerful motivation to keep Carlos on the list.

If we want a "no Fev" game, maybe Aussie to CHB and Waite to FF. Can live with this.

Waite could play FF no worries but I'd prefer Walker. I think he has the wow factor, can lead, play at ground level and is not adverse to flying for the speccy.
I always think of the day DRJ played FF and kicked a bag and reckon Walker could do the same.

Hadley, Fisher & Austin missed out last go around. If Fisher and Hadley are good to go they should see some time.

With two pure(ish) ruckmen in the team, I can see Cloke getting a rest, Waite being swung forward and Bower to CHB for the whole game, which opens the door for Austin.

I think Bentley, Cloke and maybe one of the older/knicked up blokes like Judd could miss.

Hopefully the likes of Hadley, Hampson and Austin are given a run this week.
When is the final trimmed squad named?
Can't see Browne's name in the squad.....is he still injured?

Really really really want to see Austin play.
I think he could be a very valuable player for us if he develops. At the moment the only other genuine size key defender is Carlos, although we all know Jamo does a damn good job on blokes considerably bigger than him. Still, wouldn't it be nice to have that depth of KP defenders. It would also allow us to be a bit more creative with Waite.

Also keen to see Haddles

BTW does anyone know whats going on with Hartlett and Edwards? Retained on the list when it looked like one or both would be delisted and now they're not gettin a look in for the nab... Are they injured? I remember Ratts saying he was expecting a big season from Hartlett..

Jamo is 193cms, same height as Austin. He is deceptively tall. Waite 194cms.

Jamo is our Scarlett and I would back him to play on the bigger lads EVERY time. He's an elite, they play above their height (e.g. Hunter). Hale kicked plenty on Scarlett (8?), so to see Jamo stitch him up the other night should give all Blues fans a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Agree, would still like to get look at Aussie in this game, but who does he replace?

I don't think Hale was stitched up by Jamo. In fact, the only time I saw the height difference being an advantage to Jamo was in the first Q when the ball hit the ground near the boundary and Jamo ran off (admitedly Jamo had 3 metre head start). The ball movement by North was sub standard in against Carlton in comparison to their display against Geelong. Hale and Scarlett were isolated and the delivery to Hale was always to advantage.

Jamo was too short for Hale. So much so, Jamo couldn't do much more than try and disguise a free kick against. Last year, when Jamo was one on one against Richo and a couple of the big Crows he was out of his weight decision; in fact his fist got no where near where the ball was marked because of the extra cms advantage of his opponent.

Agreed that Jamo is elite, but 7 cms plus extra cms in reach advantage from his opponent is not a fair contest. The rules definetely lean towards the forwards. From all the evidence I've seen, Jamo is seriously disadvatged physically against the gorillas. The only bloke we have on our list who is tall enough and strong enough to compete in a one on one combat with a gorilla (200cm) is Setanta.

AS for Austin, he was drafted at 194 cm; surely he has grown a bit since then. If you look at the training photos and find the ones where Austin and Jamo are next to each other, Austin is the taller of the 2. Austin has definetely grown taller than when first drafted. He's still too skinny for KP.

I also believe Jamo is taller than 193cm.

The great thing is that we are developing depth in the backline, and when Austin gains a bit more strength he will/ should take over Setanta for the big man role in defense.

Anyway, that's how I see it.

Agree. Good to see him get a run but I believe there is too much class above him now. Very interested in seeing how the Hammer/Sauce combo works out on Sunday as well. Man, if that fires it's a massive bonus. I'll have an eye on Fish too. Kick straight, son.

I'd like to see Ellard given decent time to see how he's progressing. By the looks of him he's had a good pre-season and in his only game last season he did well.

We've got nothing to lose other than a meaningless practice match by giving fringe players opportunity.
