I had one negative from the game and that is that no-one made any effort to belt the bejesus out of that runt Harvey.

Not worth the effort. Didn't hurt us, and only chimed in with a goal when it was too little, too late.

For me the biggest positives were the Rangas. I honestly think Sauce was the third best player after Fev and Gibbs. He was sensational. It's not about getting the most hitouts... it's the hitouts to advantage. He was brilliant. His disposal was good aswell.

Robbo... what can i say... I'm in love with a man. You can tell he's gonna be a cult figure. There's gonna be alot of kids with the number 12 on their backs.

Neg: Gibbs will take too many brownlow votes from Judd

..yeah and not just Sauce, but the Krooz also did some wonderful tap-work, one in particular he absolutely rammed down Juddle's throat, was a sight to see..

Yep, and even he didn't go the fist pump, maybe a first for him; ten goals down and no OTT celebration..

But he needed to be hurt when he smothered Jamo's kick in the first.

Its early.. and I know the games in the home and away season will play out differently but there was something very clinical and methodical in that win which we will need if we ever challenge for the flag. Hopefully our team work and match plan will fall into place soon...

Pros:
Mitch Robinson
Grigg
Our No 1. draft picks are progressing..
Very clinical win.

Cons:
I was sick during the game and had the chills/fever.

It was all good, great to watch - Blues supporters are in for a magnificent season,
with many more to come.

Especially liked the look of Fev - he is an awesome presence now, and will strike fear
and loathing in opponents. And while he will have 6 backmen hanging off him, our other forwards
will clean up.

Robinson was terrific.

Highlight for me was us not handballing just for the sake of it, don't know if it is part of
the game plan, or the players have more confidence in their skills, probably both. But I like it.

Out of the entire Squad that played, Bryce Gibbs is the one that seems to have taken another Gear up his Game... he really is going to be a Super Star... he is far better than Murphy....

Also, our defence looks better with bigger bodies in Jamison and Bowyer.....

Cons :

1- Bentley : His disposal is not up to AFL standards.... i don't know why we recruited him, but he looked blow average

2- Russell : Same old Russell with some bad turn overs

3- Yarran : didnt do much as he went off injured early

Bentley is only a rookie so he has some more time to develop

Russell, watch the game again, he had one turn over when he tried to square the ball to bentley in the square who was flat footed and got spoilt from behind. Look at the link up work Russell was involved in.

Yarran didn't do much because he rolled his ankle early in the first quarter.

Russell did really well, IMO.

Sure he had a turnover, but then, so did Smurph.

He seemed far more confident in his own abilities.

That's a big positive AFAIC.

Gibbs will be a star but i wouldnt put him ahead of Murphy. So far Gibbs hasnt had to deal with a tagger and murphy hasnt had the luxury of playing as a sweeper for half the game.

Gibbs is great at setting up play . Murphy has harder tasks with his kicks coming mainly fwd of the centre so he has to pick blokes out amongst a sea of players.

Choosing between them is like choosing a favourite son.

Highlight for me was seeing us play with a ruck that wins taps. First time in years and had us winning most stoppages. The only times they would get it was when we stuffed up with the in close handballs. We must work on that. Get it to the standard of Ratts, Williams and Dogs back in the 90's.

Get your facts straight Dodo. His disposal effectiveness was rated at 86.7% for his 15 possessions which ranked him number 3 in the team for those that got 15 or more possessions.

As far as turnovers went ...Grigg, Murph and Waite all recorded more clangers.

Wipe you chin before you stain your shirt.

Whole thing was positive except for Yarran's injury. It is just pre-season so not sure how far I want us to go..

We are still incredibly reliant on Fev and our season depends on his fitness. Pray he doesn't get injured. Cloke is a battling ruckman at best. He is just not quick or agile enough for CHF. When Fish comes back I hope they play him within 40m of goal, any further out than that and he just doesn't hurt the oppo.

Huge year for Edwards hartlett and austin. I hope Austin gets tried as a mobile forward option, seems to be agile and good overhead. One of them needs to stand up as another target.

Waite plays well in defence but I think they badly need a player like him up forward, in fact maybe him!.

Big positive is that we are now able to start to get a handle on Wayne Hughes and the recruiting guys. I imagine they would be smiling. Grigg has looked great from day one - let's not revisit the Jetta speculation post that draft! Last 4 drafts are starting to bear fruit. Yarran was only on for a few minutes but looks like a rolls royce and has a bit of size. Robbo is a kamakazi with footy ability. I think Steve Brown might be a big improver when he gets fit.

Why did you stop there Cazz?

Have to say Im really over all the so called experts writing everyone off or proclaiming the next messaih.

Bower bigger? Not so you'd notice but then again I didnt look too close - This bloke was shitcanned by a huge amount of supporters last year at this time. Was he one of your fav's last year Dodo?

Im happy to admit that JR aint a favourite of mine but I was pleasently surprised with some of the things he did last night. Linked up really well and his disposal certainly is well up on the same stage as last year to the naked eye.

Waite - A favouritve of mine but I have to admit not in defence. That being said I thought his timing last night was great running back with the flight - so much so he made it look as though it was easy with no pressure involved at all.

Yeah but that was the play after we actually gang tackled him when he went the side-step, drawing the Holding the Ball Free. I couldnt stop smiling that we'd actually tackled Harvey - first quarter of the year no less - which is either a sign of better teamwork, better tackling, or we've earmarked the little nob for attention. Either way I'm happy.
