Does this mean we will have to cancel the public beheading?

I can't be bothered finding out who said it, but the comment about 'how many games did you see live last year'

Cheapest shot to make at someone who lives interstate.

Not a cheap shot when said interstate commentator has the temerity to attack a player’s ability and commitment when the only exposure he gets is via the tube. Yes, you get close up's and replays but you do not see what is happening off the ball? You do not see the formations established and set plays, who is running where, where is space being created. You don't see the many leads that go un-honoured, you don't see the defenders either placing their body in front, beside or behind the contest; and you might not even see the sacrifice one defender makes to cover for another.

Therefore it is a valid comment; until you see 100% of the game; and even more importantly live games week in week out at different venues, then you get a better understanding of what is happening on the ground.

I too for most of my life lived interstate and was a passionate Carlton supporter, but it wasn't until I moved to Melbourne and began to attend games regularly that I understood the amount of work that happens off the ball. Even something as "obvious" as the flood is a whole different experience when you see it from the second tier of the Telstra Dome as opposed to your lounge room.

I know that you would rather see everything live as well, and I don't believe that I am in anyway superior because of my good fortune to watch live footy more often than not, BUT don't make character and ability assassinations based on the filtered world of Channel 7 Sports.

No it's not, it's the truth. You miss heaps. I'm just an armchair expert and all you see is the play where the ball is you miss loads and loads....When I go to the games I'm just amazed, It's brilliant.

Very True. I live in Darwin and usually only get to 2-3 games a year and I also find it amazing to watch the game live as you only see where the ball is on TV. There is much more going on that you don't see on TV.

for the record I live in Melbourne and miss perhaps two games a year, interstaters could also argue that they see the close up contests alot better also (which is more relevant when assessing a player, add to that foxtel which you can choose different views etc).

you can get back on your soapboxes now.

Perhaps I'm too busy supporting my team to over analyse the intricacies of our game plan

I reckon you shouldnt kick a bloke when he is down.

Remember Leigh Mathews leaning over and abusing Curley once when he was KO'd. Leigh didnt even Ko him. Dogs act that too.

thanks Jars, once a game starts I'm sure we all support anyone wearing Navy Blue, accept maybe HB - he hates Stevo with a passion.

And obviously played 12 of the first 14 last year.

Yeh, he's pretty bad.
