"The Blues admitted on Sunday a foot stress fracture diagnosed last month, is worse than initially thought and Warnock may not be available at the elite level until the second half of the season."

Time to give Jacobs a run in the NAB Cup. If he shows something he can come onto the list whilst Warnock is injured.

Great opportunity for the kid!

Not a great start.

Hope Mr 206 is on the track for us as soon as he can be.

Great headline. Flowers.

Oh well, he'll be a handy inclusion when we're 8-3. :smoking:

That's not great news for us but I think with Hammer, Kruez, Cloke and Jacobs we have enough talls to cover the ruck.

To match it with the best teams we will need all our best players up and running. Not an ideal start but better to have the injury drama now not mid year.

We recruited him for the next 10 years, not the next 10 weeks.
We also have ample cover.

It is concerning though. Considering his slight frame to begin with, will he be facing problems with his body for his whole career? @#$%&!, I hope not.

Is it too much to ask for all our players to be fit going into a new season? Cordy must be tearing his hair out.

Promote the big bloodnut.

I dont care what anyone says

YOU NEED 2 NOT 1 flower 2 SPECIALIST RUCKMAN

No Cloke

No Carlos anyway

Its Hampson and Jacobs

Simple as that

No more midgets in the ruck

Sometimes the solution is so obvious

Go Sammy

I had foot issues last year. Struggled through the season then did all the right things and now feels good as new.

Plenty of players get over foot problems . He is a big man and has only recently stopped growing. Once his body settles he will be a gun.

Til then we will get by with Hampson ,Krooz and even the big blood nut.

Pick 24 would have been utilized on Mitch Robinson - so go an evolve yourself.

Quite true

You may have been asked this one already, but in your opinion would we have taken Robinson at 24 if we still had it?

Yes

This may have been the case but it is irrelevant to the argument of due diligence by the club. Warnock has had a history of long term injuries in his brief football history and it seems as though the club has been caught unaware of the extent of his injury. This is going to have a significant impact on our finals campaign because rather than developing Kreuzer as a key forward and relieve some pressure of Fev, he will most likely take a fair share of rucking duties which is not ideal.

On the other hand if the club knew the extent o his injuries but felt he was a bargain at pick 24, then so be it. Both Hampson and Jacobs have a long way to go and unfortunately we will most likely spend at least half of the footy season without a competitive ruckman.

Conundrum

Warnock was always drafted as a project player.

Hampson, Kreuzer, Cloke and Jacobs can be elevated to share the rucking duties.

In fact the extra immediate responsibility will be perfect for Hampson's accellerated development and Jacobs may get some senior game time in the NAB Cup which may prove valuable further down the track.

Warnock is still very young and and has plenty of time - Justin Madden took 2 seasons to even start showing something when he was first recruited to Carlton (at a similar age to Warnock).

Kreuzer can still be protected by playing deep in the forward line - and Cloke can take some of the bullocking hack work till Warnock is right.

A foot stress fracture was always going to be more than 8 weeks . Very often 6 months or more ( ask Matthew Allen ).
Warnock is definately injury prone at this stage . Needs months of gym work . Hopefully that's what he's doing now while he can't train .

He has been compared to Justin Madden several times on various threads on TC . Forget it . Will never be in the same class .
Just hope he can get fit and play a useful role eventually . 2010 maybe .

Big chance for Hammer and Jacobs now . We need them both .

IMO won't play this season.

Let him get the foot right and spend time in the gym and the pool etc bulking up.

Great opportunity for Hammer and Jacobs to get valuable game time.

Can hit the ground running next year!
