All going well I believe that this year we will get a taste of finals football and in 2010/2011 really challenge for the flag. The question is why? For me it will be imperative to have player who can run and hit targets. The key is to retain possession and attack from defence and also win the ball at the clearances. Plus we need a spread of goalkickers!

So is this the side to do it?

Backs: Johnson Bower Jamison
Gibbs
Anderson Walker O'Keefe

Mids: Waite Hadley Robinson Browne
Hampson Judd Murphy

Forwards: Yarran Austin
Kruezer Garfield

Int: Warnock Armfield Grigg Bentley

I doubt it. For starters it implies we won't be trading anybody in or out. 2010-11 is a long way off yet and second guessing the list so far in front is pretty gutsy.
Secondly, It implies Robinson will be better than Grigg, which if that happens will be great but IMO Grigg will be one of our top ten players by then.
Thirdly, where is Fev? He won't go from almost Colemen medallist to the Bullants in 2-3 years
Fourthly, Walker will never play CHB ahead of Waite or even Setanta.
Fifthly, Hadley is not suited to HFF. Simmo would play there before him and he isn't in your 22.
Nice try, but. Maybe this time next year your task will be easier.
Whilst I am happy to criticise, I haven't got the guts to try and do better

Fair points BS but can't agree.

Starting on the bench means nothing. Players rotate and have equal time on the field. Grigg will be part of the midfield rotations.

I don't think Fev will be part of it. Big call I know but he will be around 30 and injuries etc will take their toll on him.

Walker needs to settle in a position to get the best out of him. He is the perfect matchup for a Reiwoldt, Franklin etc and can attack as well.

Hadley has played most of his footy at HF and will be part of the mid rotation. He is a goalkicker as well and can take a mark as well as lock the ball in.

I fear for Simmo, fantastic player but is small and cannot put on muscle. These players generally have shorter careers.

Just my opinions though!

I have to disagree about Fev. If a player like Gherig can play into his 30's, then so can Fev. Infact i think that Fev is one of the best built FF to have played. He may of even been designed and build by Tonka. I still can't believe that his knee didn't give way completely after the way he landed on it against North a couple of seasons ago, the guy is indestructable!

He has a unique build, and a cast Iron jaw and this superhero will play well into his 30's IMHO, unless he loses the desire.....

Sorry, but without fev, that team doesn't look premiership quality. I'd like to see O'keefe, Robinson & Garlett play before i pencil them into our next premiership team. Eddie Betts is sure to be there as well. And i think we'll win the premiership in 2010.

But if this is the team that wins us a premiership, i'd be stoked. It would indicate that our young players have significantly kicked on.

Isnt it funny how supporters overrate their own players and hype up all new recruits even those taken with late picks?

Robinson and Yarran havent even played a game of footy and people are already talking them up as superstars, just settle down.

Oh and even in that bizzare lineup, where the hell is Fev?

i'll have a crack, even though i know there is a huge chance there could be upto 10 differences.

ages for pre-season 2011 in brackets

FB: thornton (27) jamison (24) anderson (22)

HB: grigg (22) bower (23) browne (22)

C: walker (24) gibbs (21) simpson (26)

HF: yarran (20) waite (28) stevens (31)

FF: betts (24) fevola (30) houlihan (29)

RR: kreuzer (21) judd (27) murphy (23)

INT: hampson (22) carrazzo (27) robinson (20) fisher (26)

EMG: warnock (24) russell (24) o'hailpin (27)

- in green are the guys who should definitely play in our 2011 premiership team pending availabilty

- in red are the guys who i think will be made to really earn their spot in this team (looking back that didn't exactly make much difference....)

Great team tb3...and those emergencies in 2 years will be allright too, let alone a few more imports. Bodes well for a successful era to look forward to.

I have this feeling Kreuzer will only be a part time ruck and full time forward.

I reckon Hampson and Warnock will do most of the ruck this year with Kreuzer chipping in.

Good thing is with these three blokes, in particular Keuzer will be a constant threat to the forward line.

Cloke is a warrior and will hang around but don't see him as a regular but definitely adds to the squad just like Hadley, Houlihan, Russell, Fisher & Wiggins.
