Sportsbet has the Blues sixth favourite to win the 2009 Premiership at $17.

That's not bad going for the youngest side in the AFL.

As avid a Blue supporter as I am, I still can't help but think these odds are a bit off. We are ahead of the Lions and Crows ($23 each) and amazingly North who are at $41. While I don't think North can jag a flag, they were among the top 4 sides in 2008, spanked the living daylights out of us, and have some really good kids coming through. Everyone underrates North.

Am I missing something here? I know this has a bit to do with where the money is being placed, but I wouldn't have thought we'd be that high just yet.

Are the bookies banking on the rise of our number 1 draft picks coupled with a fit Judd?

The Scum are at $51

Judd at $11 is just behind Ablett for the Brownlow.

Esp given Gibbs polled well after mid year in 2008 when he went on-ball more, ending up with about 10 or so votes, if you double that it's 20 which puts you in the range.

I would put money on Cotchin too to be honest.

For a club that has done nyngan the past 7 or 8 years, and considering the journos are happy to stick the boot in whenver possible ie Carlton are shit, these odds are extremely skinny. Get a betfair account and get on (no, I don't work for Channel Nien).
