'll have a crack for the R1 against the hypothetical Richmond team below:

B: Chris Newman, Will Thursfield, Kelvin Moore
HB: Jordan McMahon, Luke McGuane, Joel Bowden
C: Matthew Richardson, Shane Tuck, Brett Deledio
HF: Trent Cotchin, Jay Schulz, Richard Tambling
F: Nathan Brown, Jack Riewoldt, Mitch Morton
Foll: Troy Simmonds, Ben Cousins, Nathan Foley
I/C: Shane Edwards, Kane Johnson, Matt White, Tristan Cartledge/Tyrone Vickery

B: Bower (Morton), Jamison (Riewoldt), Thornton (Brown)
HB: Grigg (Cotchin), Waite (Schulz), Browne (Tambling)
C: Walker (Richardson), Stevens (Tuck), Simmo (Deledio)
HF: Gibbs (Bowden), Kreuzer (McGuane), Houla (McMahon)
F: Betts (Newman), Fevola (Thursfield), Yarran (Moore)
Foll: Cloke (Simmonds), Judd (Cousins), Murphy (Foley)
I/C: Johnson (Edwards), Hadley (Johnson), Scotland (White), Warnock/Hammer (Cartledge/Vickery)

See some headaches for us but far more for them.

Love to see Judd and Cousins go head to head at the stoppages. Fev would reap damage on Thursfield or Moore or anyone, Gibbs would make Bowden accountable, Betts and Yarran would make the ground ball ours and put the young Tiger defence under a ton of pressure going the other way. Waite will hurt the Tiges and will show up Schulz. Grigg should get a first crack at Cotchin and I like the Browne vs. Tambling match-up. Jammo and Bower should beat their men. If Richo drifts forward we may have a problem, like to see Walker come down to take Brown and Thornton take Richo. Ruck should swing our way, Cloke (195/98) vs. Simmonds (196/100) looks a good match on paper and whilst Simmonds may get the better of Cloke, Clokey will be better supported by Kreuz and Warnock/Hammer.

Enough rambling ... all speculation but good fun in the absence of any real footy news!!

Iv gone and highlighted the players which i beleive have deficiencies to their game, are getting too old or are just shit. Carlton >>>> Richmond

Those emergencies would get a game in any other AFL team.

At this stage he butchers the ball too much.

Only 8 clangers from 110 disposals ..1 clanger every 14 disposals .. you're VERY harsh

ProStats indicates he had 25 errors from 109 possessions. Besides his kicking he is an exciting prospect...hopefully under Ratts his decision making/disposal will improve, as his pace and defensive mindset is something we need to add/improve on.

Happy New Year TC

First post of 2009, and I back budzy 100% re Army.

If you're not sure about him, compare everything with all players he's vying for a first 22 finish, and there's not much there he doesn't compete or excel.

He's got "AFL approved" stamped all over him.

Happy New year Bluebaggers

I'm on the Armfield bandwagon, but it's tough to see him getting a spot in round one and ahead of more established players.

Though I see Armfield as another potential replacement for Carrazzo down the track with his breakneck pace.

Armfield's disposal isn't any poorer than Carrazzo's.

Army brought back memories of Campo at his best with his effort on the wing against the Pies with his give and receive off the pack...Carried it fifty metres, bouncing it at top pace and hit Fev on the chest with Clarke about to run him down.

Watson gave him a huge wrap for his hard running down the wing and execution on the run with a wormburner hit low and hard to Fevola leading straight at the kicker.

Fantastic effort.

Though Armfield is a lot harder than Campo when he wore a Maxwell bump and flew against another Magpie running with the flight.

Army could be a good accoutable wingmen in time if Lonie, Ray and X.Clarke can play so many games.

Better kick than Carrazzo when he can do that at pace...

That may be true, but he doesn't win anywhere near as much ball as Carazzo.

Not bad! I'd like to see:

B: Browne Bower Austin
HB: Anderson Walker Betts
C: Robinson Gibbs Armfield
HF: Houlihan Thornton Yarran
F: Ellard Cloke Gartlett
R: Hampson Bentley Murphy (C)

I/C: Jacobs Joseph Grigg O'Keefe Setanta Russell

Like to see us try to play with some speed and run, especially in February. I don't want to win it and we need to look at some things we haven't tried before!

Interesting lineup cj.

I'm hoping, now that we have more 'quality' across the board on the list, that we can settle our players in the particular role they are most competent and natural in.

I know adaptability and versatility are flavour of the month terms with modern coaches but I think sometimes it might be too much for some kids.

Settle them into roles where they can concentrate on excelling in those roles instead of chopping and changing and ultimately confusing them.

Poor Carazzo, he can't even get a run in the midfield of our "dumbed down" side ??? ...........

If carrotts is in the 22 he'll always be part of the midfield rotation.
