Why I love Andrew Walker

Although Andrew didn’t arrive until a year after our Annus Horribilis, I think of him as ‘our great hope’. In a way it’s lucky we got him. My understanding is that we were supposed to be excluded from the 2003 priority pick. Thank goodness we weren’t.

Because, in Andrew, I have found football love – in all its peculiarities. You see, when you find true love – you ignore failings. Or at least, failings aren’t as exposed to one’s scrutiny when you’re besotted – just ask my wife. And what failings? Truly, we have been sucked in by the mantra “Oh, but he’s a bad kick.” Let the opposition spout that. Let the naysayers cream themselves as they search out a weakness – ANY weakness – in their efforts to big themselves. @#$%&! them. He can kick.

And he can play. He can tackle, he can mark, he can run ... oh Loudy (sic) can he run. And he’s desperate. And he’s all ours.

I loved Andrew from the first time I saw YouTube vision of him screaming up a wing bouncing one-handed. What gusto, I thought! And what pace! I recall a game from some time past where he spun on the spot to get out of trouble. On the spot! A pirouette and KAPOW! He was gone!!!

I fervently pray (metaphorically anyway) that he is always available to play. Because I always believe that he will be the turning point in a game. From the back, in the guts, up front. Doesn’t matter. I watch the game of football for the joy of watching Andrew play. Well, and some other reasons but if I had to give one reason – he’s it.

One day, he’ll deliver in spades. And I’m certain when he rises, we rise as a club.

Strange that we haven't heard from DUC and why she loves Andrew Carazzo yet...

I've been looking forward to Donstuie's spiel about why he loves Jordan Russell.

I love Hampson because he's such an athletic freak and good at ground level for a huge man.

Shaun's one hand pick up off the deck and near mark from three deep against Port in the wet reminded me of Kouta.

Hammer will be a freak when his football and ruckwork catches up to his athleticism and size.

Jarrad Waite for mine..

It took me ages to figure out the best way to describe his style, but finally another poster here on TC described his play as "Panther-Like" and that was it!

I acknowledge that his skills aren't the best, but I love the way he'll take the play on and challenge his opponent, either when he's in defence or up forward.

I also love it when he does get into panther mode and he's got the ball and moves smoothly out of defence to drive us deep into attack!

He's scored plenty of great goals, the stand out of course when he played not long after his father passed away and Rex Hunt did his infamous call on the radio.

He's Carlton through and through and will always be. He brings plentry of his own honour to his own Guernsey, but certainly does his father's memory more than proud.

That'll do!

Rich

I love Juddy.....even 'tho he really wasn't Judd fit for most of the Season......the electricity when he's near the ball....and Paul Meldrum like; the way he spins out of the pack with the ball and accelerates away.....leaving them all in his dust.

He just reeks of class....and all around....you can hear opposition supporters say "bloody hell!....Judd!" in wonderment.

But.....he's ours.
