Kouta is a legend, an icon of the club and one of the greatest Carlton players ever. Sure Kouta's had a bad few weeks, but before that he was playing pretty good footy...the problem is when you have some average games in a team that's being thrashed it looks a lot worse.

Bruce Doull played some ordinary games in his last year (1986) but he was playing in a good team and so it didn't stand out as much...never-the -less maybe some of the vultures here would have had a go at Doully too.

There's some posters here that should be ashamed of themselves!

Just a few technical notes:

* I am aware that it was Bambi's mum, not Bambi, who died (although considering the movie was made in the 1940s-ish I am sure Bambi's gone to that great gourmet-sausage factory in the sky by now. Although I am pretty sure Pagan's initial reference to Bradley was Killing off Bambi, not Bambi's mum.

* In no way am I or would I ever advocate any actual act of mortal violence (ege a shotgun to the head) against our current captain.

* I am not advocating for Kouta's retirement or sacking or demotion to the Bullants reserves. I merely think he has lost the plot as captain and the thing we desperately need the most is what he is not providing.

* I don't necessarily think Stevens has done anything to particularly deserve the captaincy. My issue is if its not Stevens who then? Surely can't be any of these guys currently in "negotiation" over their contracts. It can't be Fevola given his disciplinary issues, and while I consider Frenchy one of the true leaders at the club he has only really got his standard of footy at a really good level in the past 1.5 seasons or so. It would be a shame to put too much burden on him. Whitnall was always the logical successor but where is he headed? And the rest of the fellas (apart from Teague and Scotland I guess) have been raised and brought through in largely a losing culture.

So to sum it up:
Bambi didn't die but almost certainly is now.
Don't shoot Kouta - it's not nice.
Who else if not Stevo?

I wasnt at the game today because i had a 'family thing'.. thats the worst thing about being a Greek.. lots and lots of 'family things'... anyway from where i sat (my arse on the couch) i thought Kouta did a hell of alot of walking around the centre square....(and a little bit of jogging)..

I was at the game today, and as far as I am concerned Kouta kicked one magnificent goal, gave away a few tasty handballs, missed a goal he should have kicked early on, and didn't look greatly interested the rest of the time.

Something is going on with him...is it an injury?...is it his head?...

I don't know, but I am not enjoying watching his game at the moment.

I was at the game today too and as far as i'm concerned.........Kouta & Simmo where the only decent players who showed any kind of balls!

Fisher not impress you in his return match?

From the couch i thought Carrazzo and Fisher easily showed more 'balls' than Kouta....(to name two)

but thats from the couch again...

Simmo was good...a very welcome return to the game for Fish...Carrazzo was excellent except for some disposals, but if he can keep up the standard I will happily forgive him some errors.

Teague was back to his best, Cory was decent, Bryan..apart from his timing issue in the ruck, fared well.

I thought Fev was excellent despite not having any goals against his name.

Whits saved us a couple of times deep deep in the backline. Scotlands best game this year.

AW, Campo and Lappo very quiet today.

I thought Kouta looked ok in the first half, but disappeared in the second half.

Agree that he seems to be at a low ebb - could it be coming to an end?

What i like about Carrots game is he loves running the ball and shaking those hips to shed tackles.
Thats a good thing... i wish some of our other players would just get over whatever it is thats playing with their minds and concentrate on the football like Carrots does..

I agree re Carrots - some lovely work in close.

Kouta's work was much better this week but still lacked accountability. Also I have noticed several times when he is chasing a player he pulls right out of the chase if it looks like someone is about to shepherd him out - he seems to really shie awa from the contact aspect of the game. I understand it is probably due to his injury history, but as one of the biggest bodies in the team I would like to see him throw it around a bit more.
