Obviously many on here are die hard one eyed supporters of the club and good on them but footy clubs need them.

Fair point you do make. On the other hand as much of a passionate supporter i am i don't see everything through navy blue coloured glasses. Example of this is the Dick Pratt situation. If he were a Collingwood or Richmond president we would be joining the march calling for his head

I wont go on with the rest as it will ruffle a few feathers.

Serious question Melvey... so please answer it...

When did you begin to support CFC????

Everyone on this site knows you dont hold back so i'm guessing your not the naturally modest type, so the only conclusion I can reach is that you haven't supported the club for long enough to know what the Carlton arrogance is.

Now if you began to follow the club in the last 10 or so years then I can understand where your coming from. Your not used to the scent of cockyness that lingers around every CFC supporter, nor the knoweledge that we are in fact the greatest club in the country. You didnt go to games expecting to win, knowing that a loss would mean the wrath of many a vengeful opposition supporter, eager to make up for years of torment. You must not have supported the CFC back then because if you did you would be struggling to keep the desk on the ground after seeing that poster, like almost every other forum member.

But if you did live through the good times, and your still not happy with the way the CFC goes about things... maybe you should support a more modest club?

or

Perhaps you should educate yourself in the way of our club

Quote:
Carlton likes to strut. Whereas Essendon* is smug, Collingwood vengeful and Richmond — justifiably — angry, the Blues know how to lord it over lesser clubs.

As Sticks put it... "We are Carlton... F&^k the rest!"

I've supported the club all my life. A member for 10 years. If i wasn't a passionate supporter as you lot do you think i'd be spending my time on this site...... i think not

I had lunch with me mates and i opened the paper to see a huge article and image of our campaign..... It was laughed at by everyone at the table

Thats the exact reason as to why the Herald Sun ran with the article.

Don't change the campaign, change your mates

Seems that you revel in antagonising Carlton supporters.....and that is highly suspicious...................and annoying.

I've got an idea.

How about we accept that Melvey has his opinion, and he entitled to it. Others can state theirs. And then we can agree to disagree.

Why do we have to have so much of this incessent (I'm right, you're wrong) tit for tat on here? Why can't we state our opinion once, restate it if it is unclear to someone, and then, if needs be, simply agree to disagree, and move on to another discussion?

On a personal level, I love much of the discussion on here, it's why I (and I suspect other TCers) spend so much time here. But as soon as it starts going back and forwards into a slanging match...it's bloody boring.

Melvey has his view. Others have theirs. People have put forward their thoughts. A little discussion back and forwards. Then agree that there is disagreement.

This site is for discussion. It is for hearing different views. It is for accepting that even though we have the same love and passion for our Club, some of our views differ, for whatever reason. Whether we think that reason is valid or not. It is NOT about trying to convince the world that 'I am right and everyone else has to see it my way'. That comes from insecurity of our own position, or own beliefs. It is also what causes conflict and war.

And IF there are people on here who post to be controversial or senstionalist, as some have suggested (and I am not saying there are), then maybe if we avoid the tit for tat, people might actually be more true to their own beliefs. Just a thought.

There, I have said my peace. Now agree with me or @#$%&! off

Well, it's been nearly a week, and every single Carlton person I know loves that fuggen ad.

Every single one. That's a pretty good effort in my opinion.

I haven't questioned my non-Carlton supporting friends and colleagues because, obviously, their opinions on a Carlton membership drive campaign are completely irrelevant.

McVeigh and Watson.

What would you expect from the club that wishes it was Carlton?

They keep picking up our unwanted players in trade week and the PSD...

A friend of mine put together this piece and I like it.....good referencing of Judd too.

Heavy mist rolled across the grass

Dark, heavy rainclouds blotted the moon

The men in black and white shivered in the cold

In each one a sense of impending doom

From out of the fog great warriors walk into view

Tall, athletic and clad in midnight blue

They carry victory and dominance in their stride

For these are the Mighty Blues, they come to reclaim their pride.

All will know pain, all will taste fear

When the Blues take the field and the crowd erupts a cheer

Opponents will be rendered, the crowd will see their blood

For we have a secret weapon and its name is Judd

Hey Sombrero, knowing Agros style; he is simply saying that we all gotta stand together and repel the infidels. We have to be thick skinned if we aren't already. I'm sure his response is not intended as a personal attack on you. He is simply implying that we have to be thinking like the carlton of old, rather than the model of the past 6 years.

Hey Grumpy, I don't reckon Sombrero fits into your water cooler scenario. He is as passionate as you are about our boys, just a different approach. Ease up old fruit. We are all on the same side here. We are not talking about the Spew.

If I gotta come down there to the pub to referee, I will (ducks for cover).

Now play nicely you two. Kiss and make up, yes? 8)

Awww Dad!!!!!

Okay - sorry Blue Sombrero.

Yep Brizzy Blue has it pretty much right - the grow some balls - was a general reference.

But I aint apologizing to Melvey he can GAGF.

Thank you. I accept.
