brilliant slogan. Taps into the carlton identity and really identifies the current mood around the club/brand. Will resonate with both active and dormant blues people. It may even evolve into a catch cry of sorts which would be a marketing dream.
kudos

And then, when we're loudly and proudly celebrating number 17, they'll know we came!!

I know I will!

I'm going now.....

Tanking Scandal - please.

Watergate is a scandal, - Carlton 2006 and 2007 is a poorly performed club with a very poor and underdeveloped list.

You portray 2006/2007 as some sort of scandal - yet your too scared for us to plant our flag in the ground and announce to the world that we are coming to get them.

Everyone portrays Collingwood as the be all and end all of marketing strategy - all Eddie has done over the past 10 years is grow their brand in the market place (and good on him) their on field performance is what its always been over the past 50 years, underwhelming .

At least we are showing some balls - if your too scared to announce our presence to the world in case we dont live up to expectations and your scared of a bagging around the coffee machine or water cooler on a Monday morning then maybe you should grow some balls too. :x

Read it again, this time with your blinkers off.
OK, 'scandal' might not be your choice of words and maybe you could argue that. But what is it about my use of the word 'WOW!' that makes you think I am against this????
I think it's great and was only highlighting Collingwood to show that good marketing is good marketing. Even you must agree that Collingwood has a high profile for all their lack of recent success.
I'll be in Y&Js before the Richmond game. You can tell me there to my face to grow some balls.

AGRO (crying): Darling its not fair, all the boys in the office teased me around the water cooler this morning because Carlton lost on the weekend and pointed to the fact that my football team was not delivering on the club's 2009 Marketing Promotion and Slogan.    Its not fair!!! They are all teasing me.

Stupid Carlton for inventing that Marketing Slogan.

i dont understand why anyone would not like the slogan, first time i saw it i got goosebumps and thought this is great.
whats the problem with being cocky, we have been shit for so many years.
modesty is great in real life but footy is different its sport and being arrogant is part of the fun, and im waiting for melveys response to that question someone pondered.
cant wait for 09 to start

Now, now settle down kiddies; FFS!

Hey Sombrero, knowing Agros style; he is simply saying that we all gotta stand together and repel the infidels. We have to be thick skinned if we aren't already. I'm sure his response is not intended as a personal attack on you. He is simply implying that we have to be thinking like the carlton of old, rather than the model of the past 6 years.

Hey Grumpy, I don't reckon Sombrero fits into your water cooler scenario. He is as passionate as you are about our boys, just a different approach. Ease up old fruit. We are all on the same side here. We are not talking about the Spew.

If I gotta come down there to the pub to referee, I will (ducks for cover).

Now play nicely you two. Kiss and make up, yes? 8)

OK, now SURELY after seeing Collingwood's (dare I call it, GAY) attempt, even the biggest detractors of our campaign must at least appreciate that we've got people in there who seem to actually know WTF they're doing and can have some faith in their methods!

(Fair dinkum, if Melvey says the Collingwood slogan was the way we should've gone I expect Deano to eat shit)

Serious question Melvey... so please answer it...

When did you begin to support CFC????

Everyone on this site knows you dont hold back so i'm guessing your not the naturally modest type, so the only conclusion I can reach is that you haven't supported the club for long enough to know what the Carlton arrogance is.

Now if you began to follow the club in the last 10 or so years then I can understand where your coming from. Your not used to the scent of cockyness that lingers around every CFC supporter, nor the knoweledge that we are in fact the greatest club in the country. You didnt go to games expecting to win, knowing that a loss would mean the wrath of many a vengeful opposition supporter, eager to make up for years of torment. You must not have supported the CFC back then because if you did you would be struggling to keep the desk on the ground after seeing that poster, like almost every other forum member.

But if you did live through the good times, and your still not happy with the way the CFC goes about things... maybe you should support a more modest club?

or

Perhaps you should educate yourself in the way of our club

I've supported the club all my life. A member for 10 years. If i wasn't a passionate supporter as you lot do you think i'd be spending my time on this site...... i think not

I had lunch with me mates and i opened the paper to see a huge article and image of our campaign..... It was laughed at by everyone at the table

Thats the exact reason as to why the Herald Sun ran with the article.

Unless you work at the Hun, which you don't, please refrain from making an incorrect statement like that.

You have no idea why the Hun ran the piece. And obviously amusing your friends wasn't one of them.

I think you're passionate Melvey. I also think at times, without you realising it that you're a bit of a sensationalist. That's not good or bad; it's just a view I hold.

The point I want to make is, who cares if they laughed. Some people prior to execution laugh hysterically...usually fear is the cause, because they can't control their emotions.

What team do your mates barrack for? From a sensationalists point of view, isn't the poster sensationalist?

From a marketing point of view (target market being Carltonians), isn't it effective?

Who cares who fears us.

same thing happened to me... i was sitting with my friends and opened the paper and they all laughed... none of them were carlton supporters

in the arvo was sitting with other friend in which 3 out of the 4 were carlton supporters... 2 of them not members... and guess what, they didn't laugh... infact they got pumped up and are going to become members this year.

the lesson learned here... who gives a flower about other supporters or the media...this is aimed to sign as many members as possible, and this is exactly what this ad campaign will do.

When your mates laughed... it was i nervous laugh... you know why... cause THEY KNOW WE'RE COMING

Melvey, can I ask a question?

Since when or why do you care what other people think or react? You have more than enough conviction in your own arguments to hold your own on this forum and yet, you're alarmed at the response of some people who don't matter in the grand scheme of all things Carlton?
