'Tigers to Roar in 2004' really put a lot of pressure on the Richmond players expectations and made the AFL competition think the Tigers were being too cocky.

It's all good....
All Blues supporters get a boost, all other supporters hate it

Perfect!

So long as this story has nothing to do with us..our membership campaign is off to a flyer!

"THEY KNOW WE'RE COMING" is a great sell but not where we are at. going into season 2010 it would have been perfect slogan.

As for the tarnished brand the perception out there is we were a poor performing club even a train wreck at stages and we reaped the rewards for bad in house decisions. That's why campaigns such as this stink of mediocrity and not hard work. We were gifted

Hence why i would love the club to approach our climb back up the ladder and back as a powerful club in a humble way, hard work on and off the field not by some marketing shmo

That's OK. You just sit in the corner doing your knitting, and we'lll have a bit of fun with a tongue in cheek slogan which captures virtually perfectly the current situation, including the sudden flurry of nervous comments re Carlton's improved performances from various opposition Clubs and media persons during the 2008 season.

As for tarnished brand, as you say it's a perception, and frankly I think you would find that in the minds of Carlton fans any tarnishing was more on Elliot than the Club. The Club is quite clearly in a different place now (which you wold notice if you took your eyes off your knitting long enough). For most Carlton fans , it was just a sorry episode in a Club which lost its way for a little while (as had happened to Collingwood before Eddie taking over).

The poster is very clever, hits the nail right on the head for the stage we are at.

From an SA Supporter's point of view it's outstanding.

Interestingly, Port Adelaide released their marketing slogan for 2009 - "Live the Creed".

In a quick lunchtime poll of workmates (mostly Crows and Power supporters), they reckon the Carlton marketing slogan is sensational. And yes, they do know we're coming!

All 5 Carlton supporters in this office now have it on as their PC screen saver.

God hope we don't have a stinker of a year or miss out on the finals. I think such a slogan and campaign has added more pressure as we all know that opposition supporters love sticking the boot into us. Pressure on who? The players? I'm sure they hear a lot more on the field and beyond than what you think opposition supporters will throw at us. Opposition supporters have been sticking it in since we won the spoon - I for one, am immune to their sarcasm.

"THEY KNOW WE'RE COMING" is a great sell but not where we are at. going into season 2010 it would have been perfect slogan. Why going into 2010? Are we guaranteed a finals spot that I wasn't aware of? Perhaps we should ALL upgrade our memberships next year and not this year. FFS look at the quality of players on the poster and then tell me that it doesn't fit?

As for the tarnished brand the perception out there is we were a poor performing club even a train wreck at stages and we reaped the rewards for bad in house decisions. That's why campaigns such as this stink of mediocrity and not hard work. We were gifted. What exactly were we gifted with? Number one and early picks, which every club has access to when performing badly? We missed two years of picks - were they also gifted to us?

Hence why i would love the club to approach our climb back up the ladder and back as a powerful club in a humble way, hard work on and off the field not by some marketing shmo. Your deluding yourself if you think the club isn't working hard on and off the field and because you don't understand marketing schmo, don't diss it because others know what its for and what it will reap. Who cares what opposition supporters think when we have you to tell us ad nauseum.

Yeah nah..

History suggests that when the chance arises and we have enough talent we will win the flags...History also says that a good carlton is a confident carlton...the slogan suits as perfectly and a little added pressure to fast track our success probably won't hurt us.

Humble? lol nah. :-D

Serious question Melvey... so please answer it...

When did you begin to support CFC????

Everyone on this site knows you dont hold back so i'm guessing your not the naturally modest type, so the only conclusion I can reach is that you haven't supported the club for long enough to know what the Carlton arrogance is.

Now if you began to follow the club in the last 10 or so years then I can understand where your coming from. Your not used to the scent of cockyness that lingers around every CFC supporter, nor the knoweledge that we are in fact the greatest club in the country. You didnt go to games expecting to win, knowing that a loss would mean the wrath of many a vengeful opposition supporter, eager to make up for years of torment. You must not have supported the CFC back then because if you did you would be struggling to keep the desk on the ground after seeing that poster, like almost every other forum member.

But if you did live through the good times, and your still not happy with the way the CFC goes about things... maybe you should support a more modest club?

or

Perhaps you should educate yourself in the way of our club

Quote:
Carlton likes to strut. Whereas Essendon* is smug, Collingwood vengeful and Richmond — justifiably — angry, the Blues know how to lord it over lesser clubs.

As Sticks put it... "We are Carlton... F&^k the rest!"

why are they exclusive?

Do you think the club and all the players are now resting on their laurels thinking, 'hell we have a great marketing ploy, that'll do us, we can slacken off now'?

They are working hard

and we are coming

and everyone is on notice - particularly at the club

we expecet to arrive this year, no more youth stuff, no more potential, we play finals this year. That's it, so pull ya fingers out and work even harder.

and those that don't will be gone.

This is not arrogant, it is accurate - we are coming. WE have assembled a strong list
that are maturing and we expect them to improve dramatically - no more excuses - we are coming! Get used to it. Work hard. Be a part of it. The we are coming captures an awful lot of excellent messages and none of them include

'hey lets just laze around at stare at this really cool poster and see if it'll do all the work for us'

or

'jesus I hope we win a few games cos if we don't everyone's gunna laugh at us'
