Errrrr.
Dunno.

Those in charge have made some fantastic moves off the field and I applaud them, This one is ordinary to say the least. But hey, its only as development coach, he can't do much harm.

Have you worked with Harvey? How have you formed this opinion?

As an outsider looking in the plus side of Harvey are his match fitness and general preparation. He didn't have too many peers in those departments. He is also widely acknowledged a genuine guy who commands respect. If he is able to pass on even half of what he knows in those aspects then it's hard to imagine he won't do anything other than have a positive effect on our playing group.

I doubt he is there for his tactical nous, although having said that, he'll be able to pass on a few tips on shaking taggers to our midfielders.

Oh yeah, now those underachievers know how it felt when they signed Silvagni, a Carlton legend who has won twice as many flags as St Kilda.

Just heard that when the news reached Fev, he burst into tears with excitement. Little does Fev know that one of the first tasks Harvs will be faced with is to instill a team ethic and attitude into the youngsters. This will fastrack our development considerably. I am sure that being new to the club he will take no prisoners. His persona is outward calm and gentleness, but my contact tells me that he is as tough as nails and doesn't cop crap. Interesting times ahead, my Blue Brethen. 8)

Always good to get a player such as Harvey on the coaching ranks who can show an example.

but his work rate on the field is not to disimilar to that of Craig Bradley very similar types of players - I wonder what sort of influence Braddles has on the playing group

I haven't checked the AFL Bible yet, but do we now have a coaching group where all players were selected together in the All Australian team? (Bradley, Ratten, Harvey and Deisel)

Crosisca and Teague weren't All Australian.

But Lappin and Montgomery have made AA sides.

I believe Riley didn't play AFL.

meh - We need people who know how win flags at the club. Harvey was just a bloke who played a lot of games. Not th most talkative or communicative bloke going around -

now Fev can hug him and not get in trouble!!!!!

but seriously, i think his role as a player development coach is a great appointment, i dont think Lappo was all that flash at it, too close top some of the players perhaps, still carrying a biased attitude to some of the players perhaps??? gotta love Lappo for sticking with us, but IMO not the right guy for the job.

Harvs will/should bring new ideas and a fresh approach, having seen many, many, many young players come and go while at the aints.

another strong plus from trade week

Maybe the hug convinced Harvs Carlton was the right place for him.

The above link encapsulates the St Kilda Football Club in five easy to read pages.

Good luck to Harvey in his new role, development coach seems like a good fit.

What I love is that some of them love the guy so much they're forced to defend us and talk up our chances now. Must be a very bitter pill to swallow ;)

Gives him a chance to see what he missed out on all these years

Hope he does well, we need him to earn every single cent he's getting.

Just a fantastic pick up. Looks like the Lexus Centre not the "place to be" these days. :P

For so many years I'd fantasise about this guy wearing Navy Blue. He just always dominated for the Big V, must have been the jumper colors, obviously.

New subject for our midfielders in 2009 - Gut Running 101.

Juddy and Harvs coming to Visy Park the last two years - the foundations for Flag 17.
