The reactions would be priceless.

Harvey talks to Pies, Blues about coaching

He can teach our boys this move.

Fair point Melvey.

And seeing as Collingwood is chasing Harvey, that would mean that they're also living in the 70's. Which would mean that they're not at the pointy-end of player development. Which would mean that you're wrong about them setting the benchmark. Which would mean that you're either full of shit about Harvey, or full of shit about Collingwood.

With Cordy looking after fitness, Bradley and Diesel adding value and smarts, Judd being Judd the leader, Ratts attending to the renaissance of the Carlton arrogance, Pratt, Icke and Swanny making sure the club is heading in the right direction in terms of on and off field success, let alone professionalism and our winning culture, well with the addition of the highly respected Harvey, off field we look to be gathering an elite group to pave the way for a Flag for the Blues.

The rebuilding is looking quite promising.

Robert Harvey could look after fitness, the old man can seriously run.

Now we have Braddles, Harvey and Judd providing our team with the perfect examples of how to gut run. If our boys keep developing engines likes these guys we will be contendors within 2-3 years.

We've already got the best fitness coach in the league. I'm sure we can use harvey for other things than just telling the boys to run a lot.

When I think of Harvey , I think 'dedication to preparation'.

With Harvey and Judd as role models in preparation, our kids are in very good hands.

Put the StKilda bias aside - he's an out and out champ, and a ripper bloke. Would be surprised if our young fellas don't hold him in awe.

the other thing Harvey ads, is 'sieze the day'. Heres a bloke who can comment on what its like to go without the ultimate success and hopefully stress to them how damn important it is to do everything you can to be at your best

SEN reporting Robert Harvey has accepted the position as Development coach at Carlton.

If true great move by the club. No one more respected than Harvs to tutor the young boys at Carlton

Here it is off footyheads.com.au:

JUST weeks after he retired a St Kilda champion, Robert Harvey has begun his new football life by signing a contract that will see him in the navy blue next season.

Harvey, 37, will join Carlton as the Blues’ new development coach in 2009.

The appointment means the 383-game, two-time Brownlow medallist has snubbed St Kilda’s offer of a full-time coaching role at their club.

The Saints, however, have been quick to wish Harvey well in his new role.

“It is with a heavy heart but excitement and optimism for Robert that he becomes a development coach at Carlton from next season,” St Kilda CEO Archie Fraser said in a statement today.

“Harvs will always be a favourite son of the Saints and while we did offer Robert a full-time position at the club next year he decided to expand his experiences outside the club after 21 outstanding years at the Saints.

“We wish him every success in his new role.”

Carlton CEO Greg Swann expressed his delight at snaring Harvey, calling him an important addition to the Blues.

“Robert’s record speaks for itself, he has outstanding knowledge of the game, is respected by everyone in football and he will play an important role in assisting to fast-track the development of our young players,” Swann said.

He also noted Harvey’s choice of Carlton over rival clubs as an indication of the Blues’ new standing as a respected organisation within the AFL.

In a statement from the Blues, Harvey said he was delighted to be a part of Carlton’s future: “I am excited by the opportunity to be involved in coaching, in particular with the young list at Carlton Football Club.

“In my meetings with Carlton I have been very impressed with the professionalism displayed and the exciting outlook for the future.”

Harvey will begin the role at the end of October.
