I'm beginning to think that Greg Denham and Johnno from Mill Park are actually one and the same. Has anyone ever seen them together?

Maybe we should make the move there more permanent. Pick up the draft picks and concessions and then in a decade move back to Melbourne with the most dominant side in the history of the AFL?

As long as a genuine effort is made to broaden our membership and merchandise base, it's a good move.

Even better ... Negotiate with the AFL and move "ALL" our Telstra Dome home games interstate. This way we get back at COLLO.

Flowering stuffed us up for 10 years with him so-called financial winfall.

Not happy. I don't give a flower for the Gold Coast. Period. Next thing you know we will become the Gold Coast FC with a very effeminate mascot.

Lets not be too myopic -This is good news -greater exposure on TV etc -in an area that the AFL are trying to develop - get cash over the odds -members get an away game included in their package
Being at forefront of expansion Im for it

watch out BM but I totally agree. Its a stupid decision.

Playing 'at home' is the only advantage we still have and now we sell that for $??? the interstate clubs are laughing there heads off. We play in their unfriendly grounds once or twice a year, and in return, do they face a Vic Park, a Moorabin, a Princes Park? No, they get to play at MCG and thus get god exposure and experience for the finals.

Vic clubs have surrendered our home ground advantage enough and this is simply more of the same.

Ask Bullies or Melbourne the day when maybe playing the game they sold in melb is the diff between a finals spot or a top four position.

And what does this mean for membership? Do I get in with a normal Melbourne-based membership if it is a home game? I paid a squillion dollars to see the game at the Gabba because I didn't have long-distance membership, so am trying to work out what to do next year.

Wouldn't have mattered - Brisbane members received no benefit for the Gabba match from a Carlton membership this year - ripped off like every other year.

How much does it cost to fly two teams and support staff this far? Sounds as though the AFL have too much money. Even if it does mean they will somehow make money from the game.

Selling home games = our world being in a fairly ordinary state.

And I don't mean Queensland.

Couldn't we just wear the M&M jumpers again to get the extra cash. No worse than the insipid white things.

If it's a Telstra Dome game that we're losing, this is a very good move.

This year, we got about 40,000 people there and made something like $25,000. Pathetic.

One game for a guaranteed $400,000 is a good deal. It looks after our supporter base up there, puts extra coin into the club, and sticks it up those miserly SOB's who run TD.

Either way, we'll be shifting a game against an interstate team you'd think - makes no sense to move a all-Vic game... that considered it would have to be a TD game we're moving.

Do TD get compensation out of this though? Loss of gate receipts and food and stuff?! Man that would piss me off...

So we're still so desperate for cash that we have to sell a home game for a handful of interstate supporters in order to appease the AFL after the Kangaroos shat in their faces?

Hope there's a membership option for 10 homes games only in my 2009 membership package.....

Think of it this way.

One game at the GC = almost one year of Judd's salary. I think that's 'a bit of alright'

Mate we lost our home ground advantage (which in the latter years wasn't much of an advantage after all) the day we packed up and left PP... No matter where the ground is - all footy grounds are oval and have four sticks down each end...

I think it's more about the AFL priming the location for a football team in a couple of years time - and DON'T YOU DARE mention the M&M jumpers ever again! No bloody Navy Blue on those jumpers... it's Unaustralian if your ask me... or something.

I don't have a problem especially as we are not playing Brisbane which I think would be of a disadvantage to us.

The members pick up an away game so they are not disadvantaged.

The club picks up $$$ which is great especially in the current market where $$$ are tight.

And from memory the trip from Perth to Brisbane is a damn long flight 8) 8)

Has anyone thought that the move could be also be about getting into a better bargaining position with TD going forward? 8)

fair point sparkyblue, but then, why aren't the non Victorian teams giving up their home games for cash if the deal is such a good thing?
