Currently, Social club is about the best official option. AF has a ballot even for the competing teams, cos they only include i think 70% of AFL seats in that. MCC has a ballot.

You have to face it, there is high demand, limited seats, and lots of alternative avenues for various corporates.

The average fan is not a significant concern for actually getting there live. They are just there to provide stable in-season crowd and income.

That's because I'll be quite prepared to fork out whatever it takes to buy one. $1500 for a crappy corporate lunch, with a Weird-Al Yankovich impersonator as entertainment? Fine. Here's my money. Now, where's my seat?

You can't put a price on No.17. I'll happily take out a personal loan from some dodgy joint if I need to.

Classic.

I'll be right next to you.

Whatever it takes!!

Here's how to do it Chucky:

Go into Harvey Norman and buy an $1800 double-door fridge on their No Interest for 50 months plan.

Sell the fridge immediately on ebay for, say $1500. Brand-spanking new, still plastic-wrapped.

Buy your GF ticket with the $1500.

Pay back the $1800 over 50 months interest-free (which is only $36 a month). Waaaay cheaper than putting it on your credit card or taking out a 20% personal loan for $1500.

And anyone can afford $36 a month, surely.

That's gold JohnM.

You're a thinking man no doubt.

Having some experience with these interest-free promos in my time, I do know of people that have done this very thing and never been questioned.

Surely a premium gold membership would get you a crack at GF tickets.... surely! I have premium gold membership and pay good money for it.

Apparently Club members of participating teams get Monday and Tuesday to get their tickets before the tickets get opened up to the public and other club AFL members

I'm an MCC member but would love to experience it with my missus so if our memberships don't get us into the game I will happily fork out whatever it costs. After all, it won't happen every year as much as i want it to.

I'd pay up to around $400 dollars for a ticket to one of our grand finals. I cant remember 1995 and every year watching other teams do well in september makes me wanna see the blues in a final.

none of us want to get ahead of ourselves when predicting our beloved blues will make another grand final, but with that day getting closer each and every day and people still not clear as to what different membership packs entitle them to ive thought of a way the club could allocate grand final, or indeed finals tickets (if any other final is a sell-out).

how about members are rewarded for their long service to the club? the longer youve been a member of the club (in consecutive years of course) the easier your access to grand final, or indeed finals, tickets are.

in my case im 20 years old and have been a member for 14 years, dad goes back further than that. im sure heaps of you here go back further again. but it just seems to me a great way of rewarding those who doll out the cash year after year to keep the cub going. it also eliminates the fear of missing out cos you simply cant afford a higher priced membership, but do pledge your support to the club regardless.

of course the base membership should have to be a silver 17 or 18 game one. but yeah, i reckon this isnt a bad way to allocate your allotments of tickets. it also encourages members to sign up and stay signed up.

As we are all aware GF tickets are scarce. Here are a few facts concerning this years allocation with regard to Geelong. Geelong had 36,850 members which included 31,337 members eligible for a GF ticket. Geelongs GF ticket allocation for members was 11,500.

Of those eligible 2,620 were Priority One members (social club and September Members) who were guaranteed a GF ticket provided they registered their intent to purchase a ticket on Wednesday 10 September between 8am - 11am. If you didn't register you waived your right to a guaranteed ticket. Registration was $3 per person (non refundable). 2,529 took up their right to a GF ticket.

That left 8,971 tickets available for the rest of the 28,717 members. These members also needed to register on the 10th between 12noon & 11.00pm to take part in the ballot. Those who were successful found out late on Sunday the 21st (or when they noticed their credit card had been charged).

AFL members with Geelong or Hawthorn club affiliation could purchase their tickets on Sunday 21st. The remaining AFL member tickets went on sale to other non aligned AFL members on the Monday.

The only other way to get a GF ticket was via the MCC or a corporate gig.

From memory Hawthorn's ticket allocation was a little more but not much around 12,000.

So the up shot is the more members you have the larger slice of the total allocation your club will receive however, the less chance that you will be able to get a GF ticket (unless you're a guaranteed member). I'm hoping my Social Gold Membership will do the trick.

TalkingCarlton Corporate Box at the GF, divvy the $$ up equally amongst whomever wants to go. Get enough takers and with hopefully some contacts through the club (which I dont have but somebody on here must) we could swing a deal.

At least you know you'd be sitting in a room full of Carlton Supporters, not corporate types from Sydney that needs the rules explained etc.
