Not sure tb, I think you and I are the only ones to have touched that page and I've got no idea. Will check with Guru.

Noting Shields's name - was this his only senior appearance?

i've found the article on the game on carltonfc but there's no mention on the captaincy.

http://carltonfc.com.au/News/NewsArticl ... wsId=54921

and there was this about shields:
Quote:
Talking with the media after the game Ratten pointed to Michael Shields’ first game of AFL...

not sure if it was his only senior appearance, he may have played in another practice game but he didn't play in the nab cup.

It was the magic debut game of David Gallagher, the one where he kicked 6 goals utilising his outstanding pace.

In a big (but probably dorky and low interest) outcome for the Blueseum, the Alex Jesaulenko page has moved into the top 10 most popular pages in the site, displacing a menu page of player names. To us this highlights the true benefit of the site - many thousands of people have now been able to read up on Jezza and expand their understanding of the great man. By far and away Jezza is the most popular player page on site.

Yeah, he's back in at number 100 after re-overtaking Adam Bentick....being reading up on Backwell eh?

Well now the Buzz has overtaken both and entered the top 100, together with the now popular 'Player Statistics' pages (which provide links to B&F, Brownlow, Stat Shots and breakdowns for all players / years) knocking out Jordan Russell:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... statistics

We've also had 'tmd1' add another 20 or so Stat Shots from players in the 1980's and 1990's. Follow the link for a quick summary of the playing careers of Poursanidis, Garvey, Parker and others.

This week Season 2008 moves into the top 100 displacing the Father-Sons summary page. Also of note is that the bottom page in the top 100, Peter Bosustow, now has 2000 hits. Small number but 6000 pages at or around this shows how popular the site has become.

Next milestone is 200,000 hits for the home page!

Well, the call for Help has gone wonderfully well in this pre-season, with:

* A number of new articles added by a number of different writers (Patzfitrick, Tony de Bolfo, Miles Wilks, molsey), that will be published progressively over summer...
* A massive expansion to the Pre-VFL Players section by blueycarlton
* A massive expansion of the Stat Shot section by tmd1, including pretty much all players back to 1980 now having a stat summary of their careers

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=homepage

In addition, we've welcomed two ex Under 19 players and their photo galleries which are great to have a look at. A side project, based on this, is to try to collate all Under 19 team pictures. We have 1966-1968 and 1972-1974 already:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-browse_gal ... leryId=564

Come and have a look in all this pre-season spare time!

And now, thanks to the great work on the Pre-VFL section by blueycarlton, this page has moved into the Top 100 at the expense of Guernsey 10.

Andrew Carrazzo sits precariously in 100th position!

The Blueseum is pleased to announce another little milestone - we've recently hit the 200,000 hit mark on the homepage. With almost 2500 photos and 6000 pages, the better news is that people stay longer and look at more pages (plus need not necessarily access the site via the homepage) so people are really enjoying the site.

Also, two Contributors in particular have contributed a mass of work in this pre-season:

- tmd1 with his work on updating / creating ALL stat shots (Yes, all players will soon have a stat summary by year of all games played for Carlton)

- blueycarlton with his work on the pre-VFL section which is really coming along beautifully - so many great stories from before the VFL in 1897

Thanks Gents - the site is well & truly having a big pre-season.

Just browsing through the photos of the U/19's in the Blueseum. In the 1974 side was one Billy Swan. For the benefit of younger TCers Billy is Dane Swan's dad.
IIRC, Billy hailed from Fawkner way and probably should have made more of his opportunity at the Blues. Something he was later to acknowledge.
He went on to be a star in the VFA, predominantly at Port Melbourne and Willy in his last few years. Picking up premierships and Liston Trophies along the way.
Well done to all at The Blueseum for this latest addition to the site. It's a credit to all involved.
