Should be an awesome game.

Especially if that prick Alistair C***son and his Hawks lose.

I'm not bitter.

It makes me feel so good knowing how the AFL tried to ruin us,but despite the financial crisis, despite the wooden spoons and 100 point floggings, despite the lack of young blood coming through via thedraft, we are rising. Despite all this, Carlton supporters near and farcame together, reaching record memberships and then smashing thatrecord. The AFL's shot at Carlton has backfired.. Big time. We are backbigger and better. We have gone through years of heartache, but it haslanded us in the position we are in now. We have a host of young gun,top draft picks. We have Judd. We have Dick Pratt on board (although notofficially atm) and an administration that we have faith in. We will soon have state of the art facilities. We have Greg Swann. And have nodoubt, after what we've been through, number 17 will truly be the sweetest of them all.

I say up yours to all those who rubbed our faces in the dirt. You've help create the superpower that we are becoming.

I see both sides of the coin

We deserved our whack.

I mean how many times do you cheat get warned and do the same thing again

We were a dumb club

We were arrogant

We set ourselves up to be paid back big time

I love the club but I am also really looking forward to this Grannie

If it was Geelong vs the Saints I wouldnt be so interested.

because the result would be known now

I rate hawthorn a huge chance

Sure Clarkson is a cauliflower

maybe thats why he gets results

No softies at Hawthorn
and he is only one member of a club

How many opposition supporters would have hated Elliott and Harris

We set ourselves up for the greatest fall in footy history and got what we deserved

When we play the last September in a few years just make the most of it and realise it happened because we learnt from our mistakes

I only care because of Clarkson's cowardly king-hit on Ian Aitken, which pretty much ruined his career. And the bastard's behaviour as a senior coach shows that he hasn't changed his spots since then either.

So in a roundabout way, it's because I care for Carlton that I want Hawthorn to lose on Saturday. (As Frankie pointed out in another thread)
I balance that with Milburn's hit on Silvagni and clapping as we went off.

I live in Geelong so I hope the Hawks smash them.

Look, that was an ugly incident, and on the day I was furious.

However, on reflection I think history shows that that was an unfortunate incident for all concerned, and that it was a poor decision by a guy who has generally shown himself to be a fairly capable and reasonable footballer. I believe his reaction on that day simply showed his immiturity in handling the after effects of a very poor on-field decision.

re Clarkson, well history has shown what a thug he was, and the things he has players in his team doing certainly very calculated, and not in the spirit of the game.

keogh is right, we as Club allowed Elliot to carry on like an arrogant prick, and we paid the price. Doesn't necessarily mean the price was fair or equaninimous, but what can you expect in a parochial game with vested emotional interests generally calling the shots (i.e Commisioners and AFL Club Presidents)?

These 2 teams show where Carlton as a team need to get to be in the running. On our day we can probably beat any of 11 teams, but there are 4 we cannot currently touch ... and one of those is St Kilda.

SO on Saturday, take a look at what you have to do to go all the way.

And I hope Geelong flog Hawthorn! :-D

Played first my junior game at 8, first Senior game at 16, played probably over 300 games all up at various levels in 3 states. Coached at junior level for 3 years and was involved at Carlton for a short period. Maybe I am burnt out, maybe I am suffering a touch of the Sam Newmans, maybe I am a self obessed petulant little turd, but I haven't been excited by the AFL in a long while. Last year everyone was bleating about us tanking, while ignoring others who have done the same ('Good list management" I believe) and now they are bleating about our salary cap. They can all get stuffed.

Carlton has given me untold joy over the years, and a little heartache of late and they will give me a lot of joy in the future, but as for the AFL, feral supporters and the other clubs a pox on all thier houses.

I just want the Blues to keep steadily building.

There is no quick fix to the problems we had.

I am proud and hopeful of our development.

We will have our day soon.

If we are smart we will be a powerhouse for a decade.
