apart from the obvious Gibbs, Murphy & Co............

Grigg & Bower are the two players i am most interested in.

Bower is a gun and i remember seeing him play of Half-Back prior to him being drafted and thinking he could be s kouta-type player. He just needs to feel settled in the big leauge, but when that happens.......watch out.

Grigg has good skills and will probably be used to move the ball out of defence...... skills in that regard, well - we just haven't had anybody like that in god knows how long.

But, the player i'm most excited about it the player that isn't on our list.......yet......

I think we need a small forward/midfielder. Kinda like your Brent Harvey or your Aka or Didak & the like.

Last year, i was really hoping we could draft Vezpremi, cause i think he'll be a star.
This year, i haven't watched to many kids, but i do like the sound of Tom Rockliff....... who is actually leading the TAC Cup in goals. (somthing like 50+ goals from 16 games or so)

I do agree with BV in saying that Bower and Jamo are super important to Carltons future.

If these two can hold down FB and CHB. We will have two 10 year backmen. (maybe even Hurley 8) )

They have so much upside and are very mature considering the responsibility they have shouldered...

How many games have they played combined around 40???

Denis Pagan shaped our future....
Without his total incompitence, we would not have had Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and Walker

The words Murphy and ceiling in the same sentence is a nonsense.

He's 21. Each of his 3 years he has shown improvement, and this year, whilst sensational and discovered by the media, he has only just started his momentum.

If anyone thinks he will not imrove much when he's 22, 23, 24, 25...is either a fool or Nostradamus.

Just imagine what he'll be like if he improves 5% each year till he reaches his peak years (ceiling) as a 25-26 yo.

2009 22
2010 23
2011 24
2012 25
2013 26

I expect Bower and Jamison to be the pillars of our defense. Bower's pace is obvious, and over the next year or two his ability to align his drop of the ball to his foot and his pace will make him a phenomenal CHB.

It will happen!

I'm not saying he won't improve, rather I believe I can foresee the type of player he will become, whereas a Gobbs could morph into something different and arguably more important.

Grigg is an interesting one.

To illustrate what this thread is supposed to be about, I am not sure what sort of player he will become.

Some say he will be a player who will carry the ball out of defense, but isn't he already doing that quite well?

When I say ceiling, I don't mean when his or Murphy's improvement will be complete, I am more interested in discussing what sort of player he will eventually be.

Grigg could be a gun Centreman for all I know, one day. Or maybe he'll stay in the running HB role, or be our Ling. What sort of player do we think he'll develop into?

I get your drift.

OK, Murphy:

Do you like what you see with Brent Harvey? That's what you'll get IMO. Murphy's will pump those legs like little pistond to get into space, because he has the footy smarts, and will get that lean out of his excecution which will result in goals. He's our little 'boomer'; I already see those qualities in him, but I know he's going to grow into such a role.

SoSoS #3

But seriously...Jamison. He's the only one of the young brigade of non-top 10 picks who has shown that he will absolutely definitively without doubt make it as a top-liner. Grigg, Bower et al may very well, but there is still an element of doubt about them reaching the top that I don't feel with Jamo.

But...bring on the SoSoSes!! Btw...Jack, Ben and Tom Silvagni are now 10, 8 and 5...that means when Jack is drafted as an 18 year-old, Gibbs and Murph will have just moved onto the verteran's list :-D And Juddy will be in his last season, going for Flag number 4

Kreuzer for me.
I reckon he will be as good as Franklin.
Not a 100 goal kicker but just as good a value around the ground and up forward.
2010 or 2011 he will be unstoppable. (I hope)

Paul Bower is absolutely crucial. I think we could meet the Hawks in quite a few finals, grand finals in particular, over the next 5 years or more. Bower will be the bloke to stop Buddy, and massively improve our chances of winning flags.

Edwards was posted earlier. Don't know if it was a joke or not, but Edwards and Hartlett COULD be very important for the clubs future. We need another key forward and if we can develop one of these 2, to take that role it would be a huge help. Add Austin to that to. If he plays forward he could be really important.

Lastly, S Browne. Think he will be a gem. Very important 'Fix it' type player. Solid in every area. While players like this often don't seem to be having big impacts, you take them out of the team and you notice the difference.
