I understand the reasons for his selection and hope he goes out there and kicks a bagful and blazes for all to see

but i agree with Keogh

when Houla cannot get in this side, then we are a chance against the best

until then our weaknesses defensively will always unravel us.

and I'll add again, JR will not be dropped while we need some players to cover defensively for other so called 'offensive weapons'.

Buy that man a beer.

Credit where its due, he finished his work well and looked better down forward......maybe he does have a place and happy to say I was wrong if he can continue with that level of form.

A few on here have been arguing for a while that Houlihan was being played out of position, that he was better suited on a wing or forward flank.

He has the smarts and skills and nouse to be a 50 goal a season forward, and we desperately need that froma small forward.

Ok, he may not be the hardest at it, but neither (prepares to duck) was Bradley, and he went ok (and no, I'm not comparing the two of them! Just that there is definitely room for a player like Houlihan IMHO).

Tempting for you and me and the club, definitely

I doubt Port are that stupid unfortunately.

I think Sydney could be an interesting one in this years draft, considering their phobia of bottoming out 'in the toughest football market in the universe'. Maybe for some reason they think they can make the likes of Bentick, JR, Harts into the nucleus of a successful side. We know they wont, but hopefully they do.

Fitness Wise, he was no where near it & thats understandable considering the amount of games he missed.

Today I truly realized that Hola was the Difference between Fev kicking his 100th goal & missing out by just one.

Had Ryan not been injured, Fev would have kicked more goals than Buddy. The only time i remember Holihan kicking the ball tonight was at the throat of Fevola. The guy has an exceptional kick and drive inside 50, Something that We badly Lack & need to improve on

Try watching Houlihan's pass to Fevola about 2:30 into the third quarter and get back to me on the whole 'Houla lays it lace out to Fev every kick schtick'.

Well I would rather Houla passing to Fev than say JR or even Murph most of the time.

At 64% effective disposals I would rather Houla be on the bench and not kicking it to Hawthorn's back line while trying to kick it to Fev.

He is very OVER RATED by many in this thread. That is OK because we view football a lot different to one another.

houla had a bad one last night. I thought from the first quarter though that he just didn't look right. Just walking around he looked quite restrained. Was he having trouble with his hip again?

I hope its not the hip, however the fact that this was only his second game after the LTI would probably be the most likely explanation. Clearly not fully match fit and I can't beleive some people do not take that into account before bagging his output.

I really hoped that some common sense would prevail before seeing the standard bagging of a player who is easily a better forward option than Fisher and Russell. In a team not exactly flush with forward options besides Fev, Houla has a lot to offer.

Lets see how he goes after a full uninterrupted pre-season and consistent gametime next season playing HFF. IMO he will be an important part of the team in their likely finals appearance next season.

He has the polished skills which we need but he hasn't the following two leg speed and most importantly courage.

Never ever have i seen Houla crash into a pack with any desperation and put his body on the line. I very much doubt he would bleed for this club and is a passenger who is happy to take the pay cheques for little out put over the bleak years

In a good side you need these kinds of players who skirt the fringes. Houla's problem is we have not been a good side for most of his time at CFC.
