Yes, i'd be very surprised if he's not there in 2010 anyway. May as well sure him up till then and then see where we're at.

Wait until next year to decide, certainly made the progress that we needed to this year but i don't see the point extending his contract while he still has a year to go on his current contract.

I'm backing what Pklz said 100% - he's done very well, but let's not extend it yet - there could be an old bedouin round the next sand dune.....

Why re-sign him now? He has another year to go and won't be going anywhere else.

See how he does next season and if he deserves to be re-signed he will be!

Why the hell would you want to extend a contract of anybody if you don't think they are going anywhere?
Ratts has a contract for next year, so lets see how he goes and if all is well and developing nicely by mid season, then we can start negotiations for the next contract

No reasonable explanation in "not waiting" and making the decision at the end of next year. I have no doubt that Ratts will do the job next year and he won't be going anywhere. So let things unfold in due time.

Why extend his contract to early and then if he happens not to perform as expected, causing a lot of supporters after his scalp ala Pagan.
